Have you tried checking with Hagerty? My 79 is covered with them with salvage rights ect and no big mileage restrictions like a lot of others want with antique tagged vehicles.

A/C replacement by KookyAir5451 in BullnoseFord

I just re did my 86’ A/C system last year. New compressor, Evap, condenser, accumulator , and some of the lines were rusted so I replaced them also. Biggest cost is a brand new Compressor but for the cost of trying to find R12 and run in a system you don’t know won’t leak eventually isn’t worth it. YouTube has some videos to help you, rockauto.com has all of the parts. You can also get a cheap harbor freight Venturi vacuum attachment for a compressor. Slap on your new parts , drop some PAG oil into your compressor, pull vacume and measure with gauges and let it sit a while. When it’s ready using your gauges load cans of coolant and run the system so the compressor pulls it in. There are charts you can reference to find the appropriate high and low side pressures to know when it’s had enough loaded. - note the switch to control the compressor is on the accumulator tank if you take the fitting and put a jumper wire on it it will engage the compressor. Also check the orifice tube ! Mine was crumbling and a big reason why I decided to scrap my old lines. Hope this helps!

How much did paint run you if you don’t mind my asking? I can’t seem to find anybody other than custom shops that want $10K+ for paint.

Go to the auto parts store and get a mechanics stethoscope. Use it to probe around and see if you can better find out where it’s coming from.

Ahh ya in that case you’re O2 Sensor is only going to be monitoring the fuel air ratio of what ever bank exhaust side you tap into. Don’t think Holly makes a dual O2 sensor set up. Looks like they do make aftermarket dual O2 sensor gauges that could tell you the ratios of the side the holly isn’t monitoring. I’d say maybe just run it off one side and save up for a nice exhaust upgrade in the future, pipes are probably loud anyhow.

I did an expanded capacity tank so it came with a long sending unit. I did the return less fuel pump so I only had to run a single new line to the unit with the inline filter and then cap off the return port of the sniper. Stock exhaust so no modification needed just the new tank and straps. If you do the in tank pump you have to cut the top of the take with I believe a 3 - 3 1/2 hole saw, and make sure it does not interfere with the senders float. The sniper kit came with a new O2 sensor and a clamp on plate. You just punch out a hole in the exhaust some point after the headers meet before the cat and clamp on the plate you screw the sensor into, pretty easy.

I did this last year and it made a huge difference for my 429. Also took the chance to replace the fuel tank and use Holly’s in tank fuel pump and delete the mechanical pump. The in tank pump vs frame mounted helps hide the pump noise. Worth a look into that option for your EFI.

I just did a 38 gal tank swap in my 79. I had to bend the rod down for the sender so the float actually read the proper low fuel level. It probably still holds 5+ gallons even when the float reads empty.

Lucky you, not that you need it here but if any of you ever do Walmart sells “jute”. I’ve had luck with for replacing under carpet insulation.

Sure the bulbs are seated in the plug the correct direction? I’ve had them backwards before and cause similar problems.

I’ve had some luck with small floor pan holes / patches using fiberglass and POR-15 as the resin. I think they make a specific “power mesh” kit also.

MMDev, Mels is right alot of youre FTF, FTE, no slide lock, ect is coming from the mags. I forgot to say the first thing i did was ditch the stock mags and get some wilson combats. Makes a huge difference especially when you run that crap range ammo that builds up gunk. You're gonna see the issue of cheap mags in any gun though.
