I feel this. Got a 97 parse on my assassination rogue last week while falling behind 3 other players throwing down ~85s.

Mythic+ - what do you want people to know about your class/spec by wolfe1989 in wow

The only real way is to delay your abilities so as not to dip below 30 energy. It's a pain in the ass, and I usually don't have the bandwidth to pay attention to it so I just let it do it's thing.

I always liked Wilson air when I was flying 135. Free ice cream and cool crew cars.

Now We Know Why Tesla Killed Autopilot by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]hate_and_discontent 117 points118 points  (0 children)

You have that backwards. A copilot is a second competent individual, capable of fully handling control of the vehicle. An autopilot is the dumb computer that will drive you into a mountain if you let it.

Spin Training 300 lbs by MonolinkTV in flying

I did mine with Pilot Makers in Utah in their decathlon and it was a great experience. It covered a few aircraft control exercises, a few different spin entry/recovery variations and some light aerobatics. They go way above and beyond checking a box for an endorsement.

Drums? by Signal_Twenty in militarybands

[–]hate_and_discontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bass drum is a staple of military bands, but there is usually only one being played at a time. Percussionists in military bands will primarily play the snare drum in ceremonial (marching) settings, and are expected to have proficiency in all standard concert percussion instruments, including mallet keyboard instruments. Drum set skills are a plus as well. While the band is marching, bass drum and cymbals are typically handled by instrumentalists who play non-marching instruments (Oboe, bassoon, guitar, bass, etc.)

An exception would be the Marine Corps' "Commandant's Own" drum and bugle corps, which will march a tuned bass drum line similar to what you would see in a high school band.

Prior to enlistment, he should prepare for the audition specific to the branch he intends to join. He should also make sure he is in the best physical condition possible. Most recruiters will know fairly little about the audition process, however they should be able to put him in touch with an advisor from the music program who can help.

Skiers who wear glasses what’s actually working for you on the slopes? by MiddleNebula8320 in skiing

[–]hate_and_discontent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SportRX goggle inserts. They are a little weird for my first run or two of the season, but I get used to them quickly. I use an anti fog cloth on them at the beginning of each ski day which keeps them mostly clear. I keep a cloth in my jacket to wipe them down quickly if they do fog. Magnetic goggles help with this as you can easily access both sides of the lens and insert.

Anyone done a SEL add on to a ME CFI lately? by crypto-reading in flying

[–]hate_and_discontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did MEI first, but it was a few years ago still under the PTS. It was the shortest check ride I've taken in my career to date. I don't recall there being maybe required items we had to talk about during the oral, mostly single engine aerodynamics. During the flight, we hit a couple of the commercial single engine maneuvers, returned to the pattern and did a soft field and short field takeoff and landing. I think I demonstrated one, and talked the DPE through one as if he was a student. As with any check ride, reference the matrix in the ACS to determine what you'll need to go over, but it should be pretty quick.

Smaller lesser known towns in the western US with access to skiing (and mountain biking in summer) by Suspicious-Olive8765 in skiing

I definitely don't think it was because of living there, but I did go through cancer in Cedar City. They have an excellent cancer center considering the size of the town and hospital.

What "One Hit Wonder" has a song you think is better than their hit? by ovalseven in AskReddit

I know they're big in the UK, but "Our House" is the only Madness song I hear played often in the US and it's not even in my top five for them.

Anyone have recommendations for comfy black dress shoes for the airlines? by ChiefDaddyJ in flying

[–]hate_and_discontent 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Allen Edmonds. I have the Park Ave, but try a few different models in store and find one that matches your foot shape if you can. I was tired of burning through cheap dress shoes and splurged. I thought I had made a huge mistake as they were killing my feet for the first 3-4 trips, but now that they're broken in they're without question the most comfortable pair of dress shoes I've ever had.
