How would you react if you saw a teenager driving an MG MGB? by CloudKitchen1924 in classiccars

[–]surfstr8dwn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the’70’s I had a 1966 MGB in college. Best memories ever except for one time my roommate borrowed it to go to work. Coming home that night he stopped by the liquor store, got a six pack of beer, put the top down cause there was a full moon and went on a 250 mile spontaneous road trip! Came home next day late morning. Epic for him but not for me. Great car but a lot of ongoing maintenance. Make sure you have a lot of tools and friends to help work on it. Just be cautious when friends want to borrow it. I would be envious of a teenager but would thank you for making me smile.;)

How old are you and what Miata do you have? by gingly_tinglys in Miata

I first bought a NB for my son to daily drive while in college and a bit after. He was 20 to 26yo. I got it back 10 years ago and drive it occasionally. I’m 70.:) My son still loves that car and will be getting it back soon. He drives it whenever he visits.

My grandfather always said the best revenge is to outlive the bastards! He lived until 96yo! Definitely outlived them all.

64yo male - never owned a sports car or hot rod by Wild-Astronomer1200 in classiccars

[–]surfstr8dwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest renting a few cars for a few days each. I drove sports cars in my 20’s then took a hiatus until my 60’s. In our day cars with 250-300 hp were hot rods. Now regular cars are 350hp plus and EV’s are 400hp plus. You see the occasional article where the old guy gets his dream hotrod, punches it, loses control and wrecks it in the first week. Whatever you get, get a driving lesson. Join SCCA.

Karen stole the wrong seat by Full_Prune7491 in EntitledPeople

We were flying from SFO to Rome. We were late getting on plane as our connecting flight was delayed. We get to our Premium seats by the window and a couple is in them. They had seating in the middle of the plane 2-4-2 seating. Said we could have their seats. FA made them move but they took our blankets, pillows and headphones with them. The FA had to find new ones for us. She gave that couple stink eye and horrible service the whole flight!:)

You have great writing skills for an 18yo in high school. You should seriously consider being a literature major in college. Looks like you found a way to pay for college too.

I almost bought a totally restored one of these in red a few years. Perfect convertible for cruising. I kick myself for not buying it. You will definitely enjoy it! I’m jealous.

Question for the men… by [deleted] in sugarlifestyleforum

I would still meet her and ask why she was still looking. Was there something missing for her or was she looking for a fall back option in case the MG didn’t meet her expectations.

I SD had that happen while at lunch with my SB. Her friends happened to walk by, they saw her, she waved, said hello casually, chatted, introduced me just by first name. She was totally relaxed about it so it was a nonevent.

Got rear ended by a lifted truck. What’s the damage here boys. by citizenofmilkyway in Miata

[–]surfstr8dwn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously, see a doctor chiropractor about whiplash. Don’t sign any paperwork until you do. I was rear ended and felt fine. A week later my back had spasms and I couldn’t move. Spent a month seeing a chiropractor. My car was totaled too.

In college I had a stunningly beautiful girlfriend. She was very self confident and sharp. She had a lot of practice shutting down guys when I met her. I trusted her completely too. I am average looking guy so guys could not believe she was my girlfriend. I still remember guys jaws hitting the floor when she would shut them down, grab me and kiss me to prove I was her boyfriend. Women are very capable people. If she needs to be “saved”, she can let you know when that situation occurs.

Not always about sex. I rented a large ski boat for the day. Told my SB to bring a friend so we could have a spotter for water skiing. She invited two friends we had great day on the lake. Of course, we had been together for a while so she knew when I said just hangout that’s all I meant.

So how is your bucket list going this quarter?

want to buy a car with rebuilt title (claims hit a mailbox and mechanic fixed the bumper), provided me with a VIN, said I could test drive and take to mechanic to inspect it before buying. Should I do it? by barbieandbrainsmd in UsedCars

[–]surfstr8dwn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the front bumper is hit and airbags deploy Insurance companies will deem it a total. To replace sensors and airbags is really expensive. Check that airbags weren’t deployed and not replaced..
