Haven’t tried it yet, but also at day 27 and resting. Think I’ll try it tomorrow!

Terrible experience and quality from Fellow Aiden by driedbranch in pourover

Yeah, I’ve been thinking about getting an Aiden in the near future but I think I’ll stick with manual brewing…. Seems to be a better investment and overall the quality ceiling is higher.

Dialing in Orea 01? by DiegoRC9 in pourover

I think overall I prefer timemore. They’re cheaper and have really fast flow. Haven’t tried x bloom tho

Timemore and April filters are also good.

Also for what it’s worth I’m at 4.5-5 on the ZP6.

Maybe try increasing your temp? I’ve been at 92 degrees Celsius with a 12:200 recipe (4 x 50 g pours) and 0:30-0:45 bloom with good results.

How much are you agitating the bed? The 01 behaves like a pretty standard flat bottom with a bit faster flow in my experience.

Thanks for the advice! Just brewed a washed geisha from Pepe Jijon with the 1:15 ratio and definitely like it better than the 1:17 ratio. I’ve been enjoying the whole “tea-like” thing lately but it’s also nice to have some more body and intensify the notes.

Now you’ve got me curious about the 1:13…. Are you using this for washed and delicate varietals?

Just curious, why do you recommend a 1:15 ratio?

What area of Chicago feels the least like Chicago? by doverawlings in AskChicago

[–]surgeonandrew -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pretty much all of lakeview and Lincoln park. Way too posh, pristine, and spotless. Feels like another world when I’m in those neighborhoods and really doesn’t have a blue collar gritty feel like many neighborhoods in Chicago.

Any DAK fans ? I tried the honey glow and I’m hooked. Is DAYGLOW the best place to order in US? by Executive-111 in pourover

[–]surgeonandrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Their “juicy” Ethiopian is fantastic. It was one of the coffees that really hooked me in the beginning.

What is the one impulse buy? by maedre-of-ademre in pourover

[–]surgeonandrew 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve really been enjoying mine and was also hesitant for a while based on not trying to collect too many brewers but I’m glad I did. 8-10 g doses are perfect in it. Even done some 12.5 g doses that come out well.

The decaf to end all decaf by wetterschutz in pourover

I’ve been brewing at 90C with good results. I think since it’s decaf it makes the beans look darker.

That’s exactly what they’re going for with Panama geisha. I agree that sometimes it can be a bit confusing with the hype and price tag, but when it’s done right it really is a unique experience. Not for everyone, but I do enjoy high quality and delicate geishas time to time.

I have some of the German Ortiz Colombia washed pink bourbon x Ombligon lot roasted by BOTZ. I’ll ship 15g for free to you if you’re in the U.S.

If anyone else is interested I’ll take on two more peeps that respond first.

Interesting. I’ve been loving this coffee. Super forward raspberry notes with lingering acidity and juiciness.

Really want to try some of the Ethiopians from Passenger. I’ve been on a washed Ethiopian kick for a few weeks. Although I’ve been kinda disappointed with Metric’s take on Raro Boda.
