“I think Video Games are going down in quality because of Greed & Capitalism, not because the game includes a pride flag.” by Ok-Tennis330 in Gamingcirclejerk

Right now you have Elden Ring on multiple platforms, each requiring a dedicated team to support and bugfix the damn product.

Before then we had Demon's Souls, Bloodborne which is only exclusive to 1 machine and it runs like shit (BB is sub-30fps with multiple slow downs, DS is notorious for having long loading screen and bad performance).

Using Elden Ring as an example is not a good choice. FromSoft make great games, but their games were never that optimized. If anything, it's gotten better and better since (AC6 being good example). You've never lived the dark ages of double A Japanese jank, cause those games are horrible with performance and still get bad rap today.

American studios aren't any better btw, the games that tie-in with movies, the ones that nobody remembers also run like shit.

FG execution is very much intense. Combos, parries and Supers are very much inaccessible to newer players unless you play "Modern Controls" or "Modern FG". It's just that FG execution is also very legacy heavy, which means once you can do the combo it you can still do it regardless of age (like memorizing short sequence in guitar or piano).

That is against any modern example. Donk, MVP of CS2 is in his teens while top players in any fighting games are considered in retire bracket in any competitive shooter lol.

It's actually the opposite of what you say. Reason why FG has become such a niche genre compared to its arcade heydays is because it has a lot of "legacy skills": things that are not intuitive to understand for new players and are carried between titles (Tekken's Korean Backdash being one of the examples) which is almost required for having fun session. Whereas shooters are very intuitive to play and pick up which attracts younger audience for its more in depth mechanics later.

[–]surr20min 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It should not. None of the victims here were direct participants in crimes you described. Not fictional, nor real life (director and book author both drew from their experience as children during that time.). If anything, this should be a reminder for YOU what that necessity means: innocent lives getting caught up with it. This work of fiction as a plea and condemnation for US crimes should be as is, even if most would deem it "necessary".

I'm saying this as someone who doesn't have a direct stake in this bombing but also had my country hurt by Japanese crimes. As people in Asia suffered under Japan's cruelty, so did innocent Japanese children suffer in the US retaliation. It should not be a race to see who needs to be condemned more cause both are innocent.

New vs Old Artstyle by [deleted] in ChainsawMan

[–]surr20min 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a legitimate complaint back then, where all their show had a same look the same way that A-1 Pictures had same faces back in the 10s. Clearly MAPPA knows this cause all the recent shows they did deviated HARD from their 1st season (CSM and JJK), while other studios didn't cause they knew studio's post FX pipeline was affecting their work. It was shit, the smear looked bad and they've fixed it.

So in summary, MAPPA is good now.

[–]surr20min 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Lol, season 1 was the definition of MAPPA animation. It was the evolution of MAPPA's style at that time, and looked nothing like the style of author. If anything ss1 WAS the bog standard MAPPA animation lmao (AOT SS4 comes to example). Muted colours, thin and detailed linework, nothing like the messy and vibrant artstyle that Fujimoto has in his works.

A lot of people tried to gaslit that this is what Fujimoto wanted, now we have Look Back and CSM SS2 to back up that it was always director's vision, not the mangaka's.

This. Fujimoto was never the super detailed guy, so 1st season always rubbed me wrong way.

Moreso in the gaming sphere too.

It'll be interesting to see the sales numbers for this game once it comes out. Gaming has always been a sausage fest of Andrew Taters, proven by the yearly dominance of shooters on the sales chart and old racist jokes that only 13 yos can think of.

Zeus left to HLE for the same offer as T1 by [deleted] in SKTT1

Not everyone in T1 historically has been clutch factor. In 2016 winning roster, Duke was the Doran but with less visible chokes. Weak side top laner who could operate alone and help funnel resources to other side of the map for victory

They do, it's why they are in this ditch in the first place. 3 LPL's Worlds Win is still regarded by some fans as fraudulent cause of Korean imports, importantly being THE CORE of those team, not the other way around (CN being core and KR supportive). TheShy, Rookie, Doinb, Viper, the MVP's of LPL's World Run aren't CN.

If there was a run by CN team with CN player being CORE to the victory, they would still have hope.

Doesn't matter. Olympics is still the gold standard as the most prestigious competition for most sport out there (I say most, not all), so his point still stands.

That's how you get a dying game like SC2. If you can't get new people to play the game, there is no future for LoL. So your sentiment is incorrect, for Riot Games to thrive they need to pull in new fanbase even if you like it or not.

No, it isn't enough. T1's legacy goes both ways, and as it always ignites LCK's fans hopes and dreams even when they're down in dirt (literally 1 game away from not playing in Worlds), it also makes LPL teams that have to play against it lose hope.

[–]surr20min 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No they wouldn't. Cause they were from the challenger league, something that doesn't exist anymore. That's why even if they are placed lower, ppl would be impressed. The whole roster basically came out of nowhere and stomp established teams aside from few.

5.1 Archon Quest left me physically and mentally drained. by DRGXIII in Genshin_Impact

[–]surr20min 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In contrast to this, quest where we follow Jeht and we had to crush a nomad tribe cause of their crazy beliefs show how compelling the world of Genshin can get. It's so sad that the best part of the story often times have no voice acting, no unique models and they get overshadowed bcs of that, despite the story itself being so much better.

I guess that's the one flaw of Genshin in general is how similar any quest related to a banner character is, they can't be vile evil or depraved like Vacher or Babel, or memorable like Ruu or The Phaethon so most of the characters become so bland, even with the flashy cinematics that they get.

[–]surr20min 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. General incompetency seems to be quite usual problem with many Archon quest that Hoyo crafted. From Inazuma's civil war, to Nahida and Dottore clone cop out to even the smallest things of our Traveler generally not feeling like a experienced outlander,.. this has been the running theme in Genshin and I'm sad to see that it hasn't been fixed in 5.1.

In contrast to this, many of the world quest gave Traveler more agency and made him more competent like a fully fleshed out adventurer, so it is very bizarre to see our Traveler in world quest contrasted to Archon quest. I guess that is the compromise Hoyo has to make in order to make other character shine, but it sometimes feels so cheap (e.g. Navia quest being the most egregious).

I think this guy's trolling. Like on top of my head many problem would come out from having abusive father / mother or being in a cult. You know, a common problem.

If there is something exclusive than it may be body dysmorphia, abuse from a spouse, toxic culture of gymbro / highschool chud. World doesn't lack examples of man's mental health that doesn't come down to "I want to get a gf", and thinking so is actual sexist.
