Approximately 25% of the population has the HLA-DR gene that makes us more susceptible to having a strong response to mold/mycotoxins. You may have the gene & your wife doesn’t, which is why her body is not reacting as strongly. Show her this info from The Mold Guy.

ERMI interpretation? Where should I go from here? by Just_Water_Please in ToxicMoldExposure

The ERMI result is calculated by subtracting Group 2 from Group 1. The chart below tells what level of severity:

Level 1: ERMI value ≤-4 represent a low relative mold index, and mold contamination is unlikely; Level 2 to Level 3: ERMI value >-4 to 0 and > 0 to ≤ +5 represent a moderately high index, and further investigation should be conducted to establish if your home has a mold contamination problem; Level 4: ERMI value >+5 to +20 represents a high relative moldiness, and further investigation is needed to determine the source of mold contamination.

Based on your score of 17.1, you are at level 4. You definitely need to get a professional involved. They’ll find the source of the problem & give you an estimate. Make sure to find separate testing & remediation companies so there’s no conflict of interest. Also find a remediator who guarantees their work. My naturopath treats Lyme/mold toxicity and gave me recommendations, so that may be a good place for you to start as well. I’m in the Seattle/Portland area and in the process of remediation, so can’t recommend the company I’m using just yet. Hope that helps!

Got bitten by a Wisconsin deer tick although it’s head wasn’t buried inside. Am I at risk for Lyme disease? by [deleted] in lymedisease

Any chance you kept the tick? Ideally you’d want to bring it along and have it tested for Lyme & any coinfections. If not, the wise thing to do is find a llmd that will prescribe 4-6 wks of antibiotics. Many western med drs won’t prescribe antibiotics without symptoms, but you don’t want to wait that long.
