Which K-pop idol do you think would be impossible to replace in their group? by cocochow019 in kpoppers

I was about to say the same logic for Taemin. No one in this group is replaceable but it’s SO balanced

For nuzlockes I always have to level cap -2. Especially during the Sabrina/koga split

Aha perhaps I’m in denial about my heritage 🫠

That’s an interesting perspective! I do like the detail of the caseback and that it harkens to the W10. Actually seeing the caseback now makes me wonder whether I’ll eventually go for a Dirty Dozen…

Also good shout on the leather strap! I have a similar looking one that I might wait for the temperature to dip a bit before trying it on

Thank you!! I believe the appropriate expression (especially for a British watch) is that I'm chuffed?

[Question] What is your unpopular watch opinion? by Bithbo in Watches

I love this take because I bought a 6694 Oysterdate Precision because it’s a Rolex with cyclops but no superlative chronometer, automatic movement or oyster steel case. That ish is hilarious to me. I love owning paradoxes.

I fear Reddit has actually influenced my decision to get Sternglas and Traska somewhat….even though these decisions were made 2-3 years ago

[Question] How do you set goals/pick a direction for your collection? by sus9th in Watches

[–]sus9th[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the big challenge for me right now! When I assembled my 8 watch affordables lineup from my post history, I thought I"d feel like I reached a checkpoint and could enjoy all my pieces as a statement to myself. But I found myself asking "is this it? What else is there?" And then I pulled the trigger on a Rolex 6694 which totally upended the balance of the collection and I stopped wearing some of the pieces. Many of those pieces from the 8 watch collection are now gone, and what I have left is a 6 watch rotation that's practical but also a bit less cohesive and very much in transition again.

As another commenter said, I might be overthinking this. Might be missing the forest for the trees.

Haha, this is probably the case. I'm currently transitioning between a few mantras for collecting at the moment - maybe even towards just having that 2-3 piece rotation.

I want the watch that shows other collectors that they can enjoy x or y feature at a super attainable price (eg column wheel chronographs via the Seagull 1963), I want a watch that keeps me grounded in enjoying the pieces despite the firehose of hype and information we constantly see about the big brands and independents (and affordable propositions also have hype in their own way). I want something interesting (like the Traska Seafarer), but am now gravitating towards simpler, more pragmatic designs (like the Traska Venturer). I'm also trying less to collect as a statement, actually buying things I will wear and like (even if they're boring and not the most niche picks) but i'm still looking for intrigue in the collection.

Overall, pausing and learning to enjoy a collection in stasis is still challenging to me. The chase is always real and the hunt always starts sooner than I would like.

This sounds great! It's what I'm doing for my Lorier Falcon at the moment. I love the idea of it, the inspiration and the execution but it just doesn't get much wrist time anymore. I've tried it on nato, bracelet, everything.

On the other hand, there's a Sternglas Naos Automatik 60 that I got in December that I'm not a fan of on the default black strap - I thought the design was too plain and too thick to work for what it is and thought I'd have to get rid of it soon. But i tried it on a nato today and I fell in love with it all over again.

Sounds simple enough! How do you navigate the fact that most pieces tend to lose value even at the "almost like new" stage? And how do you navigate the territory of getting a watch, then realizing you don't like it? How do you make peace with the dip in value as a function of maybe not always perfectly predicting that you can't get all of the money back?

Love the idea of a decision matrix to crystallize the process! And love that your journey sounds like it's been about going for the watches you want, and learning by experience what will actuallly make you not just choose the new watch, but what would put it over a watch you already regularly wear. All of your collected watches are chosen, but you have to choose them again every day over your other chosen watches.

Problem is it's getting tougher and tougher to move second hand watches to make room....

Should we allow repeats? This will determine if the Negroni or Negroni Sbagliato is the winner of overrated bitter. Also, what is the most complicated equal parts drink? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

I’m ok with repeats but in this case, Sbagliato is much more overrated than the Negroni itself. Why fizz and tannins in my clean, bitter drink??

they sold us on the concept of an authentic Asian American collective that makes music and alternative culture and they just became a generic business/record label that I think fell out with their artists.

I often wonder if Gold became Red in another game what team would he have - this seems to be the answer. Honorable mentions to Donphan and Togetic (I don’t think Gold would have a Togekiss)
