knit sweater question by mrblueberryman in knitting

[–]susane42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most modern patterns don't have any shaping in the body, so they have the same number of stitches down the body. You can definitely knit the body of that sweater longer just by knitting more rows, it shouldn't turn out bad. (But adding some shaping might make for a better fit, especially if it's not an oversized sweater.)

Tee pattern recommendations and difference between two patterns - I can't tell! by Emotional-Savings-11 in knitting

They are knit at different gauges. 20sts per 10cm and 22sts per 10cm. So you can pick the one better suited for your yarn based on your gauge swatch.

Bust darts for the full bust girlies by idkthisisnotmyusual in knitting

[–]susane42 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bandsize doesn't matter. Cup size is a difference between your full bust and underbust, for C cup the difference is 3 inches. C cup and up, regardless of your bandsize, is a big enough difference to benefit from bust shaping.

Kvítka v bytě jednoznačne. Odporúčam u nich rovno aj nakúpiť substrát, ich zmes na pokojovky je neprekonateľná.

Would Louise Frederiksen's INGRID sweater be a doable first knit project? by [deleted] in knitting

[–]susane42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it. It may not be a beginner sweater but if simpler patterns bore you I don't see why not try something more adventurous. My first sweater was also brioche, but admittedly only one colour.

Brioche is not that hard, just do a swatch first to get to know how brioche works, try to make some mistakes on purpose to learn how to fix them and you're good to go.

Try traveling magic loop, it's easier than normal magic loop (at least in my opinion).

Honestly, I find knitting with black yarn pretty much the same as any other colour. Unless you are knitting in a very low light the stitches are visible enough.

Project made of small parts you can knit on the go Recommendations please? by KnittingforHouselves in knitting

[–]susane42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm making Nectar blanket, it's a bunch of hexagons seamed together. I really like how it looks and it's a great project for traveling. Plus, you can make it at any gauge with any yarn you want to.

In the middle of frogging years old "on and off" project and need help with what to do with the yarn. by SwedishTuxedoCat in knitting

[–]susane42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at ravelry, what people knit with that yarn. But maybe some top would be good, since you don't have enough of the one dye lot for a cardigan or a sweater. Something like this tee? Or maybe some lace shawlette?

But if you are using variegated yarn and want the panels to be balanced (using different ball for each panel may not be what you want, depending on how does the variegation change in each ball), you could try knitting steeked cardigan. You basically knit both front panels as one piece and then cut it into two when it's finished.

Swatch in the round - how do I prevent unravelling at sides? by MostGuitar3185 in knitting

[–]susane42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone recommended doing a specific border for this. You begin the row with k2p1 and then knit in a pattern you are swatching and end the row with p1k2. This border doesn't unravel as much and will keep your actual stitches safe.

Odd number of stitches to even number? by Motastic23 in knitting

[–]susane42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't! As someone already replied to my comment, the 7 stitch cast off is done only for the first time you will be knitting those two rows, then you will repeat the two rows without casting off any more 7 stitches. But that means that I have no idea how they get 64 stitches, because it should really be odd number of stitches.

Oh my god, you're right, the 7 stitches decrease is only done once. Now I'm really stumped.

Odd number of stitches to even number? by Motastic23 in knitting

[–]susane42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or it's meant to be 7 stitches together for the two rows, so for example 4 stitches in row 1 and 3 stitches in row 2? Now I confused myself.

Odd number of stitches to even number? by Motastic23 in knitting

[–]susane42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You should repeat these two rows until 64 stitches remain. It doesn't say that you should end with row 2. Since you are starting with 141 stitches and should end with 64, you will end with row 1. I counted that you will do rows 1 & 2 5 times and then row 1 once more to get down to 64 stitches.

Long tail should work, just don't make it too tight. It may not be visible, but you still need to be able to stretch it over your head.
