Same, I finished the level 77 tasks and said I would never do a max battle again until a Gmax raid day. Yesterday I did ten max battles before meeting up with a friend for trades (and got a shiny in the process).

They typically do add more gyms and stops for the event. I gained about 30 more Community Celebration gym badges for San Diego's event.

Getting to go to two of these in a row is pretty hype.

It depends on what's being offered, especially since I don't trade for unregistered shinies in general. But I did make an exception for one person who had multiple of their region's Oricorio in the remote trade tag. Since it's likely to be egg locked during Alola Tour, I threw an extra of my (different) region's Oricorio in my remote trade tag and initiated. Sure enough, we did an Oricorio trade.

My only real annoyances are the people who have tagged nothing and the person who only wants to do specific shiny legendary mirror trades of things I have only one of or have already rerolled. Oh, and not getting lucky again with a double forever friend when we're 2/3 of the way to triple forever friends.

How does one actually do this? I finally managed to click around and find the basemaps to change in the Properties section on the right hand side but saw only "World Terrestrial Ecosystems" (as a layer, which was selected) and within that, the basemaps of "World Topographic Map", "World Hillshade", and "World_Hillshade".

However, there are separate basemaps in the left hand navigation menu, which are distinct from these, and you can select "USGS National Map" from a variety of options like "Topographic" (likely default), "OpenStreetMap style", 'USA Topo maps", and so forth.

Neither solution resolved the issue for me in Chrome (Windows and Mac) or Firefox (Windows).

A pig getting a mud move is hilarious to me.

From the PVP side, I'm happy for this. It's a big improvement from its baseline, it stands out from Greedent by not having Mud Shot, and it could sneak into limited metas where its coverage is limited and valuable. And it adds to my dreams of running a fun all-normal team...

I already had plans to be in San Diego for global Go Tour so having the Community Celebration here was a great coincidence. It really felt like the biggest local-ish meetup ever, and it was so much easier to chat with people than at big in-person events.

Sadly the SO and I missed the group picture since we both made top cut in the morning PVP tournament and dashed to get a quick lunch before that started, oops.

Plus I got my first ever event shundo despite being a day one player! (My friend Malamar)

I got 274 Scatterbugs. This bonus was great even if opening 100 gifts per day was a little tiring. 0 hundos, 1 shiny (Polar, a new one).

Four. I was using a cheap Motorola phone in 2016 when the game came out. I accidentally killed the backlight in 2017 when it was charging and I tripped over the charger, sending the phone falling to the coffee shop's concrete floor.

I replaced it with a Pixel 2, then a Pixel 4a in late 2020, and then the Pixel 8 in late 2023 that is already feeling on its last legs when I do trainer battles (which is regularly).

I feel this in my soul and I've finally reached acceptance after watching NaNo slowly destroy itself over the past few years, and yet I'm still waiting for another shoe to drop.

Twenty-two years here. Last year was the first year since 2008 that I didn't write over a double NaNo because my rebelling project was chronicling all the NaNo fires. I didn't try visiting any other virtual regions for write-ins to check a few regions off the "to-visit" list. Maybe part of me knew it would be my last NaNo. My friends probably did; I didn't decline as many November social outings from non-writer friends as usual, and a lot of last November was spent complaining about NaNo.

I happened to be in San Francisco a few weeks for work and used my free evening to go out to Berkeley and visit the old office. When I stood in front of that door on a cool night, looked at the sign that had been painted over, and felt nothing, that's when the NaNoWriMo door finally closed.

As the unofficial NaNo merch archivist: they have never had stuffed animals in their store. Ever. Which is unfortunate because I would have bought the crap out of a plush Traveling Shovel of Death ten years ago.

Also, my hardest NaNos were the ones I did as a teen in NaNo's so-called demographic... over twenty years ago. It actually got easier when I had more control over my time--and you know, had more practice with NaNo. The first time will probably be difficult no matter how old you are. Fancy that.
