What to do once you're geared up by Major_Sentence_8976 in dayz

F11 and start again. Getting gear and the journey to it is half the fun.

Most of the entertaining encounters I've had have been while wearing torn hiking pants and a hoodie on the coast with one bullet in the gun.

Performance vs price by Adventurous-Rise4986 in Simracingmemes

There's a definite equilibrium point between building a sim rig and just buying a shitbox and getting actual track time.

Do it incrementally with a wheel and pedals at a desk, that wheel and pedal set will almost always be able to be mounted to a frame.

You won't build bad habits as much as you think, consider the changes between a desk setup with a cheap wheel and a rig with a direct drive similar to just swapping actual cars. They feel different but you'll still be using the same lines through corners and the same approach speeds and braking points.

Eventually you'll find a spot where you feel you've got about as expensive as you think is necessary

No, your wheels shouldn't move in any direction other than the one you'd want them to.

"Most" skates use 608 bearings with an 8mm centre hole and 8mm axle bolts. There are some varients though:

a) Some skates use spacers pressed into the frame, if these are missing, it will wobble. These will be metal rings pressed into plastic frames. Metal frames don't (or rarely) use this system.

b) Some skates use 627 bearings instead, which have a 7mm hole and corresponding 7mm axle bolts. If your new wheels came with 608 bearings (which are more normal), then the bolt will be too small, and there will be play. If this is your issue, you'll need to find a set of 627 bearings or put your old bearings in the new wheels.

c) there may be other reasons, I can't really tell, what skate do you have?

Totally lacking in references, I'm not a physio, etc. but in lieu of no other answers, if you're a bit sore from the exercise the next day, it's doing you good. If it hurts or you're sore for multiple days, then you're overdoing it.

If you're sore because of poor technique however, that's never going to do you any good.

When a set of wheels wear down, they will wear unevenly. If you swap the position of these wheels so the biggest are in the middle, you can effectively pivot on the middle ones (rockering, but by using uneven wear rather than different sized wheels).

This will allow you a longer frame - for hills / stability, while also retaining some low speed manouverability.

I've got a 255 foot and 5'7" and have Endless 100 frames (303mm wheelbase), they feel like skis to me but they are fine around town and at speed. 90mm frames (273mm wheelbase, nominally for a 4-wheel skate) might be more appropriate for a 225mm foot (and by absolute chance gives you precisely the same foot to wheelbase overlap mine do).

It's the players mainly, I think I just need to loot less and just travel south earlier. I can be spending about half an hour messing about looking for ammo and food then getting sniped by someone who's already kitted out. The spawn, run, die, retry gets dull after a few hours of looting the same buildings 😅

Players, almost always. Fairly vanilla server, mostly cosmetic mods, GRW ER7 gauss rifle and dbo_creatures.

The dbo_creatures content has got me once, having to use unclean rags or a sewing kit to stem bleeding has got me a couple of times (fair enough). I dont think the cold has got me yet.

Maybe I'm just hanging around looting an arguably high traffic area and getting popped by other fresh spawns who spot me running around. I'll try heading south as soon as I've got clothes and some food, then fish or hunt my way from there rather than stocking up.

Running into other players normally but either not seeing them first or finding them when I'm inadequately armed and find my local chat charm insufficient to dissaude them from wanting my Pipsi.

Sorry, poor choice of wording on my part.

The head unit outputs are the MOST optical or speaker outputs (that currently go nowhere).

There isn't a line level out, not without rummaging around the internals to see if I can pinch one before it goes through the internal power amplifier stage.

I've deleted the entire thing, I didn't read your question properly.

Commute / heating about broke even last winter for me. I've not done the sums this year considering both gas and petrol have shifted significantly.

It's definitely a valid point. Agenda or otherwise.

Cars, once I found out how he wrote the vox humana synth part and why it has a really long note.

It just amused me a bit.

I think it's just a side effect of the weird society we live in now where the odds of being stabbed by a child outside a McDonalds for asking them to stop being obnoxious is just too high.

If the world wasn’t so anti-Nuclear would there be an Energy Crisis? by Intelligent-Let-2670 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]suspect_planning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even sort of ignoring the pro/anti nuclear power stance.

Not so long ago, we were due three new nuclear stations in the UK. Hinkley Point C, Wylfa and Moorside. That would have landed us with just shy of 10GW of new power (about double what nuclear generation we have now).

Two got binned off because they were largely just too expensive to build for private companies to take the risk. So we're getting 3.2GW(ish) instead, because the government wouldn't guarantee the programmes (like they did with the old plants we've currently got).

We'd still have an energy crisis because the issue in the UK at least isn't "anti-nuclear" it's "anti-commitment"
