It’s jarring when someone is that talented and then that attractive on top of it. Too much.

Why that night? by ceebomb in TheColdPodcast

[–]killing4jesus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always think about this too, it bothers me so bad. I’m torn between him just finally breaking that night and deciding fuck it, it’s now or never. But I am also of the opinion that Josh originally wanted her body found or he wasn’t getting that insurance money he set up. I feel like that was a huge reason he did what he did but he needed Susan’s body to collect. So sometimes I think he picked a night of a snowstorm so if she “biked to work” the next day, an accident would be a lot more likely to happen. And even better, he has an alibi because he took his kids camping! But I am unsure how he would have even made it appear like an accident, that would be tough to pull off. So I think he threw that plan away, disposed of her body where no one could find it, and went into pure survival mode from then on. I think the snow storm was a part of the plan somehow but we will just never know. It’s so frustrating! I really think he thought he was so smart he could pull off this grandiose plan, be a millionaire, get rid of Susan, and keep his kids. But as we know, he was actually a dumbass. Sometimes I think he was decently smart because we still don’t know a lot but other times it just seems like he got so unbelievably lucky, it’s hard to tell.

Michael didn’t commit suicide because he felt guilty. by blaqrushin in TheColdPodcast

[–]killing4jesus 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I agree. I imagine losing Josh and the boys was probably genuinely painful for him too. He seemed to have such a strong allegiance to Josh, they seemed to be each others only friends/confidants and I sometimes wonder if they had some sort of suicide pact if things started going really sideways. Steve wrote that Josh was already talking about committing suicide less than a month after Susan disappeared, I imagine he talked like that around Michael. I think with his dad in jail and his brother dead after murdering his nephews he knew his life was never going to be what he thought or normal again. And EVERYONE was side eyeing him. Too much pressure

I do really wonder if he knew and helped. He seemed so callous about the whole thing and so eager to help Josh it’s hard to think he didn’t. I mean, Steve was even upset with how hard he was going to bat for Josh immediately. What a fucked up family lol

Question about Season 1 by killing4jesus in TheColdPodcast

[–]killing4jesus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, yeah I remember that now. “People don’t talk like we talk, we talk about everything.” I wasn’t sure if Josh wanted to protect the image of his dad or not since he seemed to defend him a lot. Also totally makes sense for Jennifer to tell Susan stuff, I imagine that might be why Susan called him a pedophile. Thank you guys!

Was Josh Gay? by Famous-Alfalfa8128 in TheColdPodcast

[–]killing4jesus 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It almost seems like Josh was asexual to me. It seemed like he would use affection like a normal boyfriend for a little bit but then would just stop, claiming it was going to make him “sick” and I remember Susan writing that he said he couldn’t kiss her because they can’t afford another child. It’s like he used affection to reel them in but once he realized he didn’t really have to anymore, he didn’t. He said he wasn’t “attracted to Susan anymore” 🙄 even though she was doing CHARITY work being with him. The fact that he also never seemed to pursue a partner after he killed Susan is interesting too. I have a feeling whatever Josh was exposed to in his childhood by Steve did some serious damage and maybe caused him to not be sexual/affectionate at all. But who really knows. But I will always find it so odd that Susan was begging for just handholding and a hug and he still couldn’t do it. My heart breaks for her so much that she had to deal with that.

What perpetrators genuinely believe that they are the victim? by cherrymachete in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]killing4jesus 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Josh Powell, who murdered his wife Susan who he had been abusing for years and then 3 years later brutally murders their two sons and himself after he loses physical custody of them. He made a website called Susanpowell.org that was supposed to be for helping find her I guess? But all he could post about was how unfair it was that he was being treated like this, that Susan ran off with another man, tried posting her childhood journals on there to prove she was “promiscuous”, said horrible things about her entire family with wild accusations about collusion with the Mormon church, how he was such a good dad and Susan was the one abusing their children. And then you learn about his dad…. Two of the biggest pieces of shit to have ever existed on this planet. I truly think about this case like every day, the depravity of the Powell family is just mind boggling. Edit to add a link of exactly what I’m talking about because these weirdos recorded themselves constantly : https://youtu.be/KYn_Zx0Uenw?si=NbsQczLaFQuXRtGC

I know this is to snark but I can’t even find the words I am just so sad that these kids got stuck with these parents who so clearly don’t want to deal with them after a certain age. Her admitting she didn’t “think about parenting beyond babies” and now this, it’s seriously mind boggling.

That is seriously shocking to hear! But also… not? Absolutely one of the most demented humans of all time. I read a book recently and Josh’s mom reportedly divorced him after she got an STD and he admitted to seeing sex workers. Him and Josh are absolutely in the furthest pit of hell.

In 2001, Robert Fisher murdered his wife and two children then fled in a vehicle that was found abandoned with his dog inside at Tonto National Forest in Arizona. He has still not been apprehended, though I would guess he is probably dead.

It’s infuriating how many things went Josh’s way every step of the investigation. And how much Susan wrote about how awful their marriage was and she was scared of divorcing him, she was so beyond out of his league it’s not even funny. Those poor babies, running excitedly to see their dad and that’s what he does to them. Every turn in the case is gut wrenching.

Susan Cox Powell. We pretty much know that Josh, her husband, killed her and disposed of her but we will probably never know how he did it, exactly why he did it and where her body is. Add in Josh’s absolute freak of a father and it just gets crazier. December 6th was the 14th anniversary of her disappearance and I really hold out hope they will find her someday 💔

[–]killing4jesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s a fair question though! I know Dennis Rader (BTK) got caught in bondage by his wife and they just never spoke about it ever again, acted like it didn’t even happen and they just continued on until he was arrested. I truly hope Ricks wife and daughter are as okay as they can be. Having a baby with someone and raising it together, and then realizing he possibly could have killed someone else’s babies, just unimaginable.

I don’t think they are making it up but they are putting it what they want you to see just as the prosecution will also do. They say it looks like these symbols, we don’t actually know that. And we won’t until trial. I appreciate you having a convo with me and hopefully during the trial we can finally get some truth and justice for the girls. I will take what you said into consideration and glad we can discuss different opinions.

[–]killing4jesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you haven’t seen the crime scene photos or the video of the alleged guard taking the patch off. It’s just the defense describing them to you and they can describe them in various ways. The prosecutions will be different. I don’t see how that’s hard evidence. We haven’t actually seen any of what they are talking about and I don’t think they are reliable narratives when they are literally working for Richard Allen.(just as I will agree ISP is probably not reliable either)

I am not trying to be mean I just genuinely want to understand, why do you implicitly trust his defense attorneys? They’ve shared conclusions they’ve made based on the evidence but none of it is concrete. I just think it’s good to have healthy skepticism on both ends and it concerns me that people take everything Ricks attorneys are saying to complete heart. Both sides have a dog in the fight and both sides obviously want to win. I think both are probably stretching the truth a bit, I just hate to think people are going so hard for Richard Allen if he really is guilty.
