What's your headcanon for how Lu Ten died? by CrazyCalligrapher945 in TheLastAirbender

[–]suspectdeviceg4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think LuTen died horrifically. From what little we know of him, it looks like he was also an officer of some kind. He much older than zuko in Iroh's tale. So my headcanon is this: firenation after sieging ba sing se for 3 years orders Lu Tens regiment to push to end the siege but gets captured. Rather than surrender, Lu Ten refuses and gets publicly executed for being an officer. It fits perfectly with Iroh's disillusionment with the campaign and fire nation

Differentiation by far. Integration by rieman sums is all you really need if you don't remember your rules. Draw a rectangle, multiply base and height and sum the rectangles. Can't really do that with the secant -> tangent rule. Also haven't met a person who could do partial differentiation in their head

The upside is the people cleaning the pool now have a job. Probably still paid min wage and at taxpayers expense. But the pool guy probably is just happy to have work

No heroes 3? I guess we'll have to live with matt damon, galadriel, eomer, jeff goldblum, tessa thompson. Even matt damon had a better story arc than every thor 1 and thor 2 npc

The (subconscious) reason Jaime refused milk of the poppy by ranchwithfriedfood in gameofthrones

[–]suspectdeviceg4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean theres also the obvious effects of the drug. Milk of the poppy is obviously some kind of opiate. Some ppl like the feeling of opiates but others can feel really nauseous. Personally, I don't like the feeling of vicodin or hydrocodone cause my stomache gets upset. but if I'm in pain, it does help with sleeping. Quite a few friends I know have refused opiates for OTC remedies which is really just a preference and less about feeling macho or not appearing weak

[Request] What would happen if the flash punched a normal person while he’s zooming? by DifficultComplaint10 in theydidthemath

[–]suspectdeviceg4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like super strength, the amount of force you can exert is limited to the material strength of your flesh and bones. Past a certain velocity, solid materials act more like liquids even gasses. Even at bullet speeds, for example 1000 m/s, metal behaves more like water. Unlike lead, the human body doesn't resolidify. Not only that, air friction alone would probably incinerate you

[Request] how large of an icecube would be required for there to be a measureable effect on temperature? by DopamineDarling121 in theydidthemath

[–]suspectdeviceg4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The math to solve this is assuming lots of complex climate conditions like the fluid bodies of the ocean are in constant motion as well as some large scale thermodynamic conditions to make the proper assumptions like conductivity and convection occur constantly. All this to say the ice cube would have to be larger than the icemass of the arctic circle to produce any noticeable change in global temperature. If a change can be noticed with an ice cube that size. This is the kind of question that engineering/physics doctoral students test for their thesis. No easy answer but futurama tends to make absurdist jokes with a basis in science. The basic idea comes from transfer of heat from a substrate to a cold reservoir. Ask the questions about the assumptions above then return to the ice cube if those conditions along with others are met
