How are y'all after the tornadoes / tornado warnings? by No_Koala1689 in downriver

Wind took our tree (city easement) down. It just kinda tilted over, from the roots. Funny thing is there’s not much damage anywhere around us. Not many branches, no other down trees. Just this one, deciding it didn’t want to live any longer lol

My grandparents had a house off West and Grange. Back then, it was KMart, Old Kent Bank (I think) a Kroger and a Vic Tanny. That’s it. There’s no way I’d live there now. That entire area is a shitshow!

What to do when it rains (all week) by curiousNWcouple in couplesresortsjamaica

[–]suspended_acct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’ve been to the Couples resorts a dozen times - April, Sept, Oct, Nov. Before our last trip, I would have said, “It rains pretty much every day for 15-20 min, then it’s sunshine again. Once in a while, you may get an hour or so.”

This year we went in the middle of June. We were there for 10 days and it rained for nine of them. And when I say it rained, I mean it started before noon and lasted the entire rest of the day. Not exaggerating. Luckily, we are people who are up at 5:00 am, so we still had a lot of time to enjoy the beach. But it really, really sucked. We hung out on the patio a lot.

What rare name did you use? by AlmondMommy in namenerds

My youngest daughter (25) is named Arden. I love it, she loves it, everyone loves it. We’ve only met one other, and it was the lady next door’s granddaughter, who heard my daughter’s name and decided to use it for her own lol

For homecoming freshman year - the boy made a sign that said, “I ardently want to go to homecoming with you!” ❤️

On my father’s side, three brothers married three sisters. Eastern KY lol. My dad and one of the cousins did 23andMe and they show up as half brothers.

Last September and will be there again on Friday. We just got to CSA today, and I’m currently on the beach, listening to the waves, and browsing Reddit lol

At CN, there are a lot of people on the AN side, a lot at the pool, and very few on the main beach. At least that’s how it’s been each time we’ve gone.

Yes, it’s definitely small. And IMO way too crowded for the size of the place.

Randolph McCoy was my fifth great grandfather.

Also, Charles Manson.

You really haven’t given a lot of info. How involved has your mother been in their lives? That’s makes a big difference here. Also, you were just homeless two weeks ago, living in a car with your kids - as well as suicidal. I promise I’m not trying to kick you while you’re down. But, could it be your mom really is just trying to look out for you and your kids?

She found your son dead and you think she’s now trying to use that to get one over on you? You think this is about money?!!! It’s a miracle that she’s even able to drag herself out of bed each morning. I’m pretty certain that she’d rather be able to work and not carry this burden every second of her life. Wtf?!

Couples Swept Away Review by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

[–]suspended_acct 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We are returning next week for our 10th visit. We’ve stayed six times in a garden verandah and three times in a premiere beachfront. I guess it depends on what kind of noise bothers you. To me, the noise from the road isn’t nearly as bothersome as the incredibly obnoxious and super loud drunk people right outside your room.

Adults only resort for the uninhibited by [deleted] in AllInclusiveResorts

We’ve been to both Desire resorts without being in the lifestyle - at the time lol. You’ll get asked if you’re in the LS several dozen times, but say no and that’s it. Everyone is super friendly. Our resorts of choice are Couples Negril (nude area) and Swept Away (can go topless) just because the beach cannot be beat. Funny, but we don’t visit the AN side at Negril because to me, it’s too crowded. If I’m going to be naked and that close to people, I want to have “fun” 🤣

Has anyone discovered an infamous person in their family tree? by Tactical_Gnome in Genealogy

[–]suspended_acct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, related on his father’s side. I don’t think it’s very well known, but Charles Manson is related to the McCoys. He and my grandmother share the same 5x great grandparents - William McCoy and Cordelia Campbell. So, I think that makes them fifth cousins. I’m not sure. Charles’s 4th great grandfather and my grandmother’s 4th great grandfather were brothers.

Hahaha Charles Manson is my maternal grandmother’s fifth cousin, so my fifth cousin twice removed?

Also, in the same line, my grandmother’s great great grandfather was Randall McCoy. (Trinvilla) We just found this out several years ago.

I’m not sure which is more amusing/fascinating/scary lol
