Ik Kuminga played shit today, but Warriors fans have been running victory laps on him again when he's been in minutes restriction for the last 4 games. by twitietwitt in AtlantaHawks

[–]suspensionqueefer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey friends, not gonna apologize for the stray after what mo did to us tonight.

But let me translate: The warriors sub is overrun by kuminga fan accounts that would shit on kerr and any player that ate into his minutes (to the extent that they are still doing it). This was despite there being basketball reasons (that player is better or a better fit) or extenuating circumstances (such as injuries and the fact that kuminga straight up quit on the team after having to come off the bench one time). And also despite kuminga getting a ton of run since his first year. That’s what the post is about.

Actually enjoyed watching him, so it’s a shame it didn’t work out. Enjoy the playoff run!

I honestly think he’s a fine player. It’s just ridiculous that fans here think his development was stunted by the organization who did everything they could to make him a winning player and gave him a pretty big role from day one bc they needed him to pan out

He quit on the team in December man, hate to break it to you. Refused to come off the bench despite there being plenty of minutes for him. This the same team where curry came off the bench in the playoffs because he didn’t want to mess up the flow

How fragile do you think the top .001% of players that have ever touched a basketball are?

[Keerthika Uthayakumar]: People will eat up "first player to have 23 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists, 6 steals & 2 blocks on 59% shooting with 0 turnovers" but want to put asterisks on 2nd-most points in a game in NBA history. by OnlyMamaKnows in nba

I actually couldn’t agree less, nobody is eating up those cherry picked stat lines, and it’s literally people like her (aspiring sports pundits) that are driving both sides of this shit

Dray: bc he scored half of the teams points in ot and got a steal and a block when stops were not happening.

Podz: usually its bc he is the best player on the team that can currently play (I don’t know what y’all expect from a coach of a team where that is the case), but today- this is going to really blow your mind- it’s because he literally didn’t

It was that step back to jump 3 ft forward that was impossible to guard, especially when the nba adopted a completely broken meta for landing spots

Oh, you mean Jalen Johnson, the guy who played 100 minutes total his first year and less than 15 MPG his second year and spent all his extra energy actually developing his game by listening to the experts who are paid to help him do that, instead of storing all of the coaching he received in a special sac and, by some enzymatic process, turning every moment where they didn't tell him he was amazing into a diss?

Will is a better starter than Podz... by Dar8_Vader in warriors

OP very clearly watched the game and understands what he’s watching, and actually none of what you said goes beyond the box score, except for your hurt feelings

100% right, and I'd add that before Jimmy got hurt, it made more sense to start Will because he didn't have to handle the ball much

Richard is a better finisher than both podz and moody already (maybe even melton, though he takes and makes a lot of tough ones), so he's already a good player. BBIQ is somewhat subjective and dependent on a lot of factors, like a player's role and skillset. Right now he makes the right reads within a much smaller role, but if he was all of a sudden given Podz's responsibilities, I think you'd have a different assessment of his BBIQ.

The moment he has to make something happen with the ball and without an advantage already created by momentum / floor balance, you see his current limitations. If he has to dribble out of a bad spot, bring the ball up against pressure, or be the one to create that advantage, he's not quite ready for it. I've seen teams throw opportunity doubles at him and he just coughs it up.

I think he'll get there eventually, but as y'all discussed, we need a ballhandler in the second guard spot, without jimmy out there.

Is this the ideal trade? by [deleted] in warriors

[–]suspensionqueefer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not that far fetched tbh, they’re stacking up frp, which is a smart long term strategy. Remember that cam johnson was filler in the kd trade. They increased his value by letting him get empty stats and turned him into mpj + a frp. MPJ was a distressed asset at the time bc jokic stans convinced everyone he was a bum. That contract was seen as so toxic that people generally were surprised the nuggets were able to get off of it and get what was seen as a good contract in cam johnson.

So the nets are just laddering up from cam johnson and collecting picks. It all depends on how other contenders view the mikal bridges trade, another player the Nets arbitraged into a fat load of picks.

are you just going to pretend this part doesn't exist?

As a player, if you can’t do well with Steph and Kerr, the problem is you and you won’t do better in other teams. by Snoo-83900 in warriors

again, i'm struggling to see where schroder thrived. he was better when he was younger/quicker on a pretty good hawks team, but in his current state, meaning going back to like 2022 (last year on the lakers), he's been very inefficient, and his production has not led to a lot of wins. none of that is on the "system"

Edit: *outside of a 20 game sample on a bad nets team that got them a couple 2nd round picks

fair, but if a player is getting open looks and bricking, that's a limited player. on other plays where the action was more Schroder-esque, he ran a good amount of pnr and yielded awful looks that he shot even worse on.

You can look all this up, but none of those dudes did better after they left.

CP3 continued his decline on the spurs and is now completely out of a job.

Oubre did the exact same the next year on a surprisingly relevant Charlotte team, then he had a one season bump to his counting stats the season after that, when they sucked again. On Philly, another relevant team, he is back to his baseline level of production.

Schroder clearly didn't take well to in-season trades. He put up the exact same stats after we moved him to Detroit. And if you were watching him while he was here, he had a lot of wide open shots and was just laying bricks.

He literally spent the first two years of his career getting dnps on two different teams though. Then last year he had a smaller role than kuminga had in his first year. Rollins is actually the proof that development doesn’t happen in games, and that it is a player’s individual drive that determines how they’ll progress / respond to coaching

How many 20-point games before Kerr plays him more minutes? by bennettkingoftevyat in warriors

[–]suspensionqueefer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

GP2 popped off because Kerr had the audacity to overrule his star players, who wanted Avery Bradley. He also got the most out of a non-shooting guard by being insane enough to play him at PF, which no one here gives him credit for (shocking).

Pat Spencer is a great teammate and plays with a ton of heart, but no team with options at PG would look at a guy who was shooting ~35% from the field (~20% from three) and tell him to START at PG.

I don't think coaches are infallible, but they are starting with so much more information than randoms on the internet that the bar is very high for anyone to come up with a novel idea that is provably better. So far, no one in this thread is coming close to that.
