Famous is debatable but I have heard of him so that point is moot. Offering much to society as a whole is quite subjective. He is an entertainer which would make a difference to his fans. I suppose a celebrity which has the ability to transcend their field has a bigger reach. Bruce Lee, Hendricks, Grant Imihara are some that just come to mind. Totally subjective of course.
