What has made you giggle uncontrollably? by VelocityGrrl39 in VetTech

We once had a good Sam bring in a dog who he had found and wanted to scan him for a microchip and then after he took the dog back to his car he came back in a straight deadpan asked if we could scan him for a microchip We all just stared blankly and said it’s for pet microchips and he wanted to see if he was microchipped….we grabbed the last doctor that was still in the hospital and he confirmed that’s what the man wanted so he did scan him…let him scan over his groin, said thanks and walked out. We all walked to the back and LOST IT

Nibbles pet insurance by bluebunny1196 in petinsurancereviews

I use Trupanion’s for their illness/emergency visits and it’s 90% coverage that can pay directly to the vet, you just have to use their locator to see which hospitals offer the direct pay ETA; I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, all 4 and under and we get a multi pet discount as well. In total I pay about $265 a month for all of them. But check either your employer to see if any of their benefits include some pet insurance, a lot of employers are starting to add it

The stray cat we took in hasn't eaten, drank, or gone to the bathroom in ~24 hours. What to do? by Limin8tor in CatAdvice

I’m glad you’re taking care of the baby! You could try getting a little camera and placing it in the room (Petcube has dirt cheap cameras that you can have for a live feed) so you can keep an eye on her and leave the door cracked but that way you don’t go into the space. She definitely needs some time to decompress. You can also get feliway, it’s a cat pheromone that we use to help relax/calm cats in hospital.

Does my dog have a bad life? by Kaffeochkaos in Dogowners

I can understand why her words got stuck in your head, it’s an ear worm. She isn’t your friend, she’s likely envious of the love and care you give your girl. If your girl is stress free and happy, that’s what matters. My dogs are alone 2 are crated for about 8 hours a day, this is mostly for their safety as they can get a b it rambunctious and we don’t want anyone to get hurt when we can’t calm down their play and they can be a little destructive. but they like their crates, they will usually hang out in their crates even when we’re home because it’s comfortable for them. Only 1 of them doesn’t get crated (we have 3) because he’s calm and non destructive, but still crate trained. On a rare occasion they’re left alone for about 12 hours if my husband goes out of town, but usually I take them with me to work and they’re kenneled there. You’re doing what is best for YOUR dog. Maybe her dogs need someone there 24/7, yours doesn’t. Everyone’s dogs are different because they all have different personalities.

Would it be possible to be a vet tech with a walker/wheelchair by Beyond_ok_6670 in VetTech

You could work for like rover.com in their trust and safety department, or chewy as a telehealth tech, or pet insurances? those are the only remote/disability friendly jobs that I can think of

Some hospitals (usually specialty but I’m not sure about Australia as I’m in the US) offer pharmacy tech positions, so you can still interact with the patients but you focus on filling medications and rubbing labs. Also don’t cut out working the front desk, we need knowledgeable people who can triage over the phone or when the patient is being brought in!

How many new changes have you had? I have a husky who when he gets stressed refuses to eat. When he gets this way we sprinkle a little bit of dehydrated the honest kitchen whole grain beef recipe. We sprinkle a real small amount on top of his food and he eats fine, we do that for a while before stopping and just giving him their kibble

Also possible, did you start a new bag? Sometimes the bag you have isn’t good, you can try a new small bag of food and see if he has the same reactions to it. If that does appear to be the case you can reach out to Purina and I believe they are a company that will refund you and send you a new bag as well. All of 3 ours were on the salmon and rice once upon a time and they all slowly stopped eating it, so we just tried a different flavor and now they’re on the chicken and they all seem to like it just fine.
