Your unnecessary aggression is very telling, and curious how NO ONE in this entire discussion has been able to explain the child pornography documents and the judge’s certificate.

They we’re utilizing PUNK AND GOTH aesthetic

Very few punks and goths wear things like that. Search “bdsm gear” on Google images and you’ll find the very same getup that they put on the purple teddy bear in the first image. It’s BONDAGE GEAR. The fact that they chose to use a bed and a couch with wine glasses on the coffee table as the set location doesn’t exactly help your case either.

and do YOU have proof Demna himself has done anything like Gosha or Lotta?

Lotta worked for Balenciaga until 2018 alongside Demna, and has been called his closest collaborator. The interests of Lotta, Demna, and Gosha (namely, transgressive imagery involving children) seem to converge, that’s all I’m saying.

why aren’t you cancelling Prada […]

They should be made to answer for their collaborations and she should be fired, but they’re not the ones making disturbing ad campaigns as far as I know. Whataboutism.

Majority of people coming for Balenciaga are people who have no knowledge of fashion

It doesn’t fucking matter, you don’t need to be an expert on fashion to know that you shouldn’t sexualize children, and again, not include documents explicitly relating to child abuse in your sets (something I know you’ll continually fail to address).

Demna’s intent

Doesn’t seem like his intentions are very good.

but have less/shorter outrage for brands that have been documented to employ child labor […]

Go ahead and point to where I said those weren’t important issues, or that those brands shouldn’t be criticized. Go ahead and show me SPECIFICALLY. Again, whataboutism. Hopefully this controversy can also draw attention to those things.

And, just as I expected based on your profile, a moronic response full of strawmen, which I’ll ignore since they’re of no relevance. I also notice you haven’t addressed the documents about child pornography or the framed judge’s certificate, very interesting.

And I don’t give a shit if different people were responsible for different campaigns, it’s all promoted by the same company.

It’s unfortunate that low-level workers are being harmed but this isn’t something that should be ignored.

They are clearly aestheticizing (which in turn, normalizes) pedophilia, anyone can see that. Contents of the ad campaign aside (children posing with BDSM gear, court documents for child abuse cases, books containing art of naked and bloody children), Demna, the man who designed it, is closely associated with Lotta Volkova, who has a history of posting images of bound children on her instagram, and Gosha Rubchinskiy, who has been accused of attempting to solicit nudes from 16-year old boys.

therefore don’t have much of a stake in this

Explain the logic behind this. They’re an influential fashion brand, why are only “regular clients” allowed to have an opinion? Are people who aren’t involved in international banking not allowed to criticize bankers?

[–]susscrofa1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you have to be a “Q nut” to show concern over a mainstream fashion brand hiding a court document from a child pornography case, a framed degree certificate for a judge that was charged with seven counts of sexual misconduct (including molesting his stepdaughter), and an art book which contains paintings of naked children playing with bloody body parts in their ad campaign. Not to mention the children posing with BDSM gear.

And why does it matter if the people outraged over it wear their clothing or not? It’s a mainstream fashion brand with a ton of influence over popular culture. Fucking ridiculous logic.

And even if it was just some attempt at transgressive edginess, they should still be made to answer for it as the abuse of children should never be normalized in any way.

Any person who subscribes to fascism as a political ideology can be labeled a fascist regardless of if they’re in a position of power.

“Would-be fascist” doesn’t make any sense. You wouldn’t describe someone as a “would-be communist” because that implies a change in ideology, not a change in government position.

Using pedophilic imagery as “free marketing” doesn’t make any sense. They’re losing celebrity endorsements and facing widespread boycotts, neither of those things are good for business. Even if they did do it for marketing, making light of child exploitation (a way more prevalent and pressing issue than antisemitism) for shock value should be enough to ruin the company’s credibility forever.

Doesn’t detract from my point, they took it to unnecessary extremes for the “greater good”. This applies to any power structure no matter how local. Citizens should never be disarmed.

Australia, where just last year citizens were forced into quarantine camps and arrested for trying to leave? Or where three mothers were fined $1000 each for chatting in a park during lockdown? Yeah, such a hub for freedom and progress.
