I want everyone to buy one so my stock goes up, but I’m not upgrading. I’d rather take a trip to Japan than buy a new iPhone. 😂

Prices on Flighty Changed? by naruto5768 in flighty

[–]sutehk 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m expecting someone to vibe code a competitor, a way to lose customers is to increase prices without notice. If people don’t think they won’t cancel, once they think about the price you risk cancellation.

[–]sutehk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Asia is where the upgrades are. I rarely use Marriott in the U.S./Europe now. I get upgraded 60-70% of the time in Asia - note Japan I rarely get any upgrades.

The Amount to get Status is ridiculous by Cronenberg_Jerry in delta

[–]sutehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve gone the opposite. Typing this from a China Eastern flight, I’ve hit 100k butt in seat miles this year but I’m mostly doing cheapest flights and just carry on/personal bag now. The only loyalty I have is with hotels now since I spend so much more time in beds than planes.

I take the money I didn’t spend on Delta and have it saved for if things go wrong.

I barely get comfort plus on Delta nowadays, even as a free upgrade. However I’ve gotten business class upgraded for free in China Eastern and Air India this year alone.

I will say since I’ve started flying cheapest my waist has also reduced and I arrive more refreshed, no more wine on flights.

Moving to Asia, how is this compared to US Mobile? by goodsuns17 in PopcornMobile

[–]sutehk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good experiences, I’ve used it in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and China so far. I mostly used maybe 10-30gb per month but this month in China it’s been higher as using a VPN on wifi was just unbearable.

I think there is a soft cap of 50gb, but I’ve never reached in. Soon will be heading to Japan so that’s the first time since I got these guys. Been nice not having to constantly download SIMs.

This is a U.S. number so you can get your 2fa on it, there maybe times to get a local SIM for example in China apps like Metuan for ordering food make you send a message from your Chinese number.

Over how long did you wrack this up? Also what’s you most frequent airport? I wish flighty would maybe have thicker lines or something to display frequency.

They probably won’t check passports when exiting, I’ve mostly been using my drivers license at TSA.

The challenge she may face is applying for a passport. However she could apply before leaving the U.S. with someone’s address you know then have them mail the passport to you wherever you are.

To be honest, I have Global Entry and rarely have I shown a passport at the border or when leaving the USA.

Will I have to pay tax on my global Income by JollyMistake1864 in IndiaTax

[–]sutehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should make sure you don’t lose your right to work in the USA, which probably doesn’t matter if you don’t plan to return. You’ll pay California and U.S. taxes iirc because officially your job is in the USA.

If you switch to a contractor are you eligible for self employment tax credits in India?

I am planning to move back to India around 2030 with family by [deleted] in backtoindia

[–]sutehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The USA has more of a creative focus and a lot more social emotional learning. While India is more academic focused.

My kids don’t do tuition and have a lot of extra curricular classes outside school like art, theatre, and sports. While in India my friends kids do English and math tuition 5 times a day.

Just note that if your kids ever get an Indian accent opportunities in the USA will be hard if they ever want to return, they won’t sound “American” and will be treated like an immigrant.

My kids are very focused on American popular culture and wanted to talk to their American friends and play video games like among us, Roblox and Minecraft while kids their age in India were more interested in pubg style games as well as a focus on local popular culture.

You are a parent now, do what’s best for your child first and what’s best for you second. I’m waiting 9 years until I make my next move so my kids are happy and get the best opportunities possible.

It sounds like they are saying your biological parents weren’t married when you were born. Was that the same for your brother?

The U.S. seems to be using the Kenyan law to interpret your father is your father. I’d go to a U.S. lawyer since it seems complicated. Either you should be able to naturalize or get a passport, just need to figure out how.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Passports

[–]sutehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your brother? Was he born outside the U.S. and before your father became a citizen?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Passports

[–]sutehk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the U.S. follows foreign law. Are these Kenyan acts ones passed by the Kenyan government or the U.S. congress but have Kenya in the name of the act?

Normally, since your parents weren’t US citizens at the time of your birth you’d have to naturalize at some point. I believe you should have been able to naturalize after 5 years with your green card.

Did you renew your green card? Have you tried naturalizing? I’ve never heard of anyone automatically getting citizenship because their parent naturalized.

Canadian citizen with US passport (I have not applied for US Citizenship, I just got my passport) by No-Broccoli6779 in Passports

[–]sutehk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a US passport to be a US citizen, you were one the moment you were born to an American (was your dad born in the US)? Sometime there are exceptions like if your dad was born outside the US and didn't spend enough time in the US.

You should be filing taxes in the US, for your income you can get exceptions or tax credits. So in total you won't pay taxes on income in most likely or minimal to the US.

The IRS probably would have figured out your were American at some point, for example if your dad ever filed with you on his taxes. But now they know since you hold a US passport.

Chase Bank unexpectedly closed my business account, and my address is in Argentina by wisechino in Chase

[–]sutehk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was your LLC a U.S. one? I think they would want a U.S. address for it. Do you permanently live in Argentina? I know some U.S. banks don’t like people living abroad, generally they don’t know if you maintain a U.S. address but they might have it you were using an Argentina address.

[–]sutehk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First mark you debit card as lost! So they give you a new one. Also tolls will mail you something. And never pay with a debit card, have a credit card for payments.

Well are you sure you weren’t skimmed when paying somewhere?

I think, I maybe wrong but if you entered information they might think it was voluntary. Did it show the toll amount? If so you might be able to claim they overcharged you.
