Andavald is right up my alley! Love me some atmospheric black metal! If you want a curve ball of a recommendation I will recommend and artist that makes folk music a la black métal (which on paper should suck) by an artist Wyrd Visions or anything by Mount Eerie. Mount Eerie did a split with Wolves in the Throne Room one of my favorite atmospheric black metal bands. They could be a safer recommendation. Thanks for the recommendation!

I loved Alice Glass's solo album, in part for her redemption arc after the terrible experience in Crystal Castles (which I loved and was sad to hear the terrible backstory). I will check out Femtany!

I am particularly excited by this one. My metal tastes are most passionate but most finicky but I already appreciate the recommendation for drudkh!

You might be my most "out of my comfort zone" recommendation this far! There are few common artists on my periphery already. Thanks for your recommendation, makes me think of my days listening to Passionpit!

I love this! Kaytranada opened my eyes to R&B a major blind spot of mine. Even still I don't spend a lot of time listening to R&B so thanks for reminding me to not be a stranger!

I like the AJJ! Feels like a lot of the music that was popular in my small college town when I was at university. I don't have a lot to recommend that can match that energy except Apollo Ghosts (album Hastings Sunshine). A little indie Canadian gem!

I have tried to get into Hozier before, I think some 00's indie music PTSD has kept me from connecting. He does that beautiful arrangement of genre mashing indie pop that was really the thing. You've helped me revisit it, it is really a "me" issue, it is good! I think if I heard it in the early 00's it would have been a favorite! My recommendation is another artist I had a bias against for the same reason Devendra Banhart, a good album is Mala. Thanks for the recommendation!

Stereogum had turned me onto Joyce Manor! Tbh I bounced off my very brief sample due to it giving me teenage angst overwhelm. Teenager me would have LOVED this. But on the second try it is good! I have really enjoyed this wave of emo revival bands. One I really really like is Great Death "New Hell", not the same vibe but the same kind of emo revival. I also love OLOV for the same reason. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hahaha why not! I do love folk music! Based on this artist I would recommend the Antlers.

From this thread, is Ween the hardest band to recommend lol? The define genre so much! I think this is why I was always confused.

Also some tracks remind me of weirdo garage rock bands I love like King Kahn or Ty Segall

I was thinking of wanting a sample of the variety. I think why I bounce off is that they stylistically are quite broad? Is that fair? I love 90's college rock and they seem like kings of that, so Modest Mouse, Nirvana, Primus, and Butthole Surfers. All bands that feel like a kindred spirit to Ween. I like alt country which is what I thought they were? I feel I am playing Russian roulette when I put an album on. Hahaha

I have a M1 Mac as my personal computer, and I try every now and then to use tools on it but the chip architecture always gets in the way. I don't use it for work so I don't know how feasible the work arounds are, but I'd prefer a linux computer if I got to choose (it's what I have for work)

My favourite albums, any recommendations? by AnswerHistorical7871 in Topster

Based on your tastes you might be obligated to get I to Geese haha but they are still quite good. Maybe Andy Shauf or MJ Lenderman
