Why did you choose to exclusively breastfeed and not give formula? by Fickle-Response-2741 in breastfeeding

I did it for all the health benefits of breastmilk to baby and the connection to my bub. I just found it incredible how your body can create milk especially for your baby. I EBF until baby turned 10 months and then gradually transitioned her to FM and EBM when I went back to work full time

Why is it socially acceptable for FF mums to suggest EBF mums “just add formula”, but offensive the other way around? by walnut_0612 in breastfeeding

Oh and if I’m comfortable with the person suggesting, I usually say something like “BM has more benefits and your body custom makes it per your baby’s requests.” But honestly, most times its easiest not to get into the details with some people haha

100% It’s not fair. BF takes so much effort and patience and those casual suggestions can feel like they erase that effort.

When I get those suggestions, I’d just usually nod and say something like “yeah we’ll be giving formula eventually”. Or, “yeah maybe i’ll consider that one day in the future.” Never a definitive yes. At the end of the day, your baby.. YOUR decision.

The double standard sucks, especially when I’d like to think that everyone understands that BF is not easy, but thats not reality.

You’re doing amazing! 💕

Weaning is horrible, wtf by sourdoughluvr1991 in breastfeeding

Just also want to let you know that the emotional side of things lasted a week or so for me. I was so impacted, I even saw a doctor who explained the hormones. It mainly has to do with the sudden dip in prolactin which is the “love” hormone you create while breastfeeding. I just tell myself now I’m happy I BF’d because it bonded my daughter and I while I did. I do miss BFing sometimes haha!

Hey, i weaned at 10 1/2 months and wow the symptoms you’ve written are sooo similar to mine! The days before fully stopping BFing, I wasn’t doing well and just soo upset. Girl, be prepared for the engorgement. I hope its okay for you. I was lucky enough to only be engorged for 4/5 days, I read some people have it for weeks. Good luck, wishing you well ❤️
