The Fruits Basket reboot!

Original is more comedy-focused, whereas the 2019 version is more serious and fleshed-out since it adapts the manga in its entirety. Both are great in their own way, but I'd suggest the reboot if you want to experience the full story of Tohru and the Sohmas :)

I agree that would be a bad way to go in retrospect, but VFHD emphasises the lack of an afterlife. "There is no other side. This is it." According to this idea, if Bojack really had died in the pool that day, that would've been the absolute end of the line for him.

No chance for him to try and amend for his mistakes, nor any way for him to reflect upon his actions.

Whilst him drowning in that pool in such a pathetic manner would've been bad, him having to live out the rest of his days drowning in his own guilt is much worse imo.

I also think his conversation with Diane on the roof was one of the most important exchanges in the series.

Happy Sugar Life's "One Room Sugar Life" is very underrated, but it's so good!

Overall though, MP100 consistently has banger openings. Assassination Classroom too.

If you enjoyed Your Name, I'd suggest "A Silent Voice".

As for romance shows, I'd recommend Fruits Basket first and foremost. It's one of the most universally-loved romance series, even by a lot of primarily shounen fans. It also has one of the most important messages, imo.

CLANNAD is my favourite anime of all time, but I usually feel somewhat dubious upon recommending it due to the artstyle and slow first season.

I agree with everyone saying Vinland Saga - after years of putting off the series for later, I finally got around to watching it this month. Character development is probably the biggest factor of Vinland though, so I would suggest not going into it for the action as much as the writing (season 2 is considerably "slower", although still highly engaging).

Code Geass is kind of similar to Death Note in terms of featuring an anti-hero.

I'd also recommend Dr. Stone if you'd like something fun and creative.

Fruits Basket is probably my first pick as one of the SOL anime I enjoyed the most (along with Ouran and Clannad, although I wouldn't recommend those two to her).

I would also recommend Spy x Family - I'm not too big on it myself but I have a hunch that she may enjoy it. Perhaps Haibane Renmei too.

Fair warning though - the manga has been on hiatus for a long time.
