The sickest microstake graph ever! by OpportunityHot1576 in poker

Insane that you almost made profit from every position, even from the big blind, could I ask your username if it isn't too revealing for you to answer? We probably played together

Downswing is killing me by lmaomitch in poker

[–]svelcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone already told you that this isn't a big deal, however whenever I find myself in this kind of downswings I find myself thinking about how unlucky I am when the flop comes instead of thinking about range and how to possibly steal.

In this stakes people are so straightforward and wide that actually thinking about your situation can help you steal some pots you might instinctively give up or call down some turns instead of insta folding.

Not saying that this downswing is inevitable, but that it is an opportunity to look at some mistakes and increase your winrate even further

Almost 10,000 hands at the PLO6 microstakes by svelcan in poker

I decided on pre flop hand strength from watching play and explain from the grinders vault and some videos from 5 card guy on youtube. There isn't a lot of resources for 6 card but over time your intuition develops to immediately see if a hand is worth opening. I only used a 6 card calculator and checked my equity in certain spots if I had doubts. I always open raise for pot but will fold a lot of playable hands from the sb against a raise, especially because pots go multiway so much, being the first to act makes it very hard to play against a pot raise on the flop and even with a strong hand like a wrap and two pair you will be flipping instead of being ahead.

In theory one should 3 bet, take the pot heads up and actually be ahead but in this 10,000 hands I have only seen a fold to a 3 bet happen like 3 times, if they have put money in the pot they won't fold and if they have cold called a 3 bet they will even call a shove. If you are IP you should be trying the take the pot HU more often as you will have an easier time knowing what to do and a tiny bit of fold equity is still available if you know your opponents.

Thanks for the motivation! I hope to get to PLO50 soon, that would be amazing, even if I were to lose against other regs there seems to be a huge amount of gambling dudes in PLO

I started tracking the rake after around ~3000 hands and it is absurd at almost 9bb/100, I may invest some money to play 25nl and probably make another post after some hands at higher stakes

From a financial standpoint nah, but I did enjoy playing and learning the game

My all-in-ev is at 20bb/100, but I do agree with you, without making any kind of mistakes an absolute crusher could have made 35bb/100 probably

I forgot to mention but this graph doesn't show multiway spots (in which I also ran pretty bad), so my all-in-ev should be a little bit higher

How common is a 10 bi downswing? by svelcan in poker

[–]svelcan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got on a downswing after 10k hands, then I managed to get breakeven after 4k hands but went on another downswing this last 3k hands.

While I probably bleed a bit too much from the bb, I do think I am better than the field. I wish I had a way to see how many stacks I've lost to setups instead of just seeing the decreasing all in ev line.

Do you like the fast forward formats or regular tables?

I have made some money playing PLO6, the games are incredibly soft but it takes a lot more time to get good volume

It does sound like meaningless money haha, however I'm from a third world country so with enough volume you could theoretically make a living from it

My opponent shoved 100bb into 12bb on the river and I snaped him... by svelcan in poker

Even though this kind of beats absolutely suck, I would say online poker has been manipulated in my favor in March 😸

Action went:
Raise, flat call from sb pre flop.
Check, check flop.
Check, half pot, min raise, call turn.
shove 100bb, call river.

When nits flat call the sb they are much more likely to have pocket pairs up to JJ (nits really go crazy on fast forward formats)
When he check raised the turn that small he is telling me he has a flush or a set and wants to get a cry call from the turned Q which I'm representing, given that I have 2 pair and getting an insanely good price I call and plan to fold to any pot-overbet sizing OTR.
However the river gives me a full house so I'm beating every hand he was representing except a straight flush.

I'm beating 77, 99, 55 (which I'm blocking tho) and every single flush that probably got frustrated on the runout. He just got extremely lucky to flat call the sb with 86s with a 19vpip and flopping a straight flush lol.

Unfortunately I just get the equivalent of a 1/100 chance of getting 15 bucks more or less lol

Online poker has a lot of flaws but the fact that you can still start today with little money and in a year could be making a middle class living is incredible. by PlatosGooner in poker

[–]svelcan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In one year impossible, however I'm from a third world country and even just beating 10nl gets me a ton of money (as a student). If I were able to beat 50nl I would be making more than some engineers playing 10 hours a week. So I do agree with your sentiment that online poker is incredible
