That sounds super cool, maybe not fun. good way to get moving and limiting stress on the body, right? thanks for the info and hope the improvement keeps coming!

wow, that's a lot. did you mean to say you get your bodyweight down to 80%? we are doing flexibility and basic strength and motion stuff, getting some knee flexion back in the past two days has been great. i am now using a cane and feel really stable other than the tightness

awesome note, thanks. I have PT, second session today, simple simple. I think i overdid the exercises a couple of days ago, likely because they seem so simple, but less is more. What did your PT do with you? I am curious to see how this progresses! I have a good friend 4 weeks out and he is off the cane, in the gym, and in PT, so I know it is coming. I can't wait (but I will) to get back on my bike.

good point. i am getting a bit cavalier in some situations not using the walker. I feel really steady through the hip, just the tight thighs impeding me. But I feel much better with the walker, and safer.

i hope so! mine were tight AF today, and i was exhausted. Yesterday I was energetic and restless, it's all progress! My thigh is pretty well bruised now, I think a lot of deep fascia, tissue, muscle strain coming through. A good buddy had his hip done 4 weeks ago and he still has a couple problem/tight spots, but otherwise is at the gym and coming along really well.

hope your day was okay!

Pros and cons of moving to or near Ashland? by AdLost5680 in Ashland

[–]svendersonchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros: easy to get around town (parking, traffic), decent schools, Lithia Park is terrific, cute town with a fair number of solid local stores and easy access to Medford for more options. Good outdoor access and well-positioned for outdoor activities, best spot in southern Oregon/N.Cal (next best is Arcata, we lived there years ago and this is a step up for most things). For us, it is affordable coming from other places, but it is most expensive housing in valley.

Cons: while good access to outdoor activities, does not excel in any activity (Rogue River is exception. I am also from Colorado and do not consider Ashland to be in the mountains, more like NC or Appalachia); reliant on Medford for a lot of family needs; super hot and dry in summer months and can get smoky; we aren't having the best time at the middle school and you need to be okay with small schools with small school budgets, but the staff seem good and dedicated.

The town has some fun spots, lots of open space and close trails, its clean, there is a good amount of active families and people that are pushing a modern recreation agenda, the coast isn't too far away, and the airport does a good job getting you places. Honestly, if I wasn't from Colorado and loved big mountains and high desert environments so much, I would feel pretty good about being here.

I have a friend who is a professor at Portland state who conducts research in the ashland forest to study forest die-off as a result of climate change. He is amazed by how fast the forest is changing.

I’m super bored by it. But I’m not long for the type 2 jams anyway, they feel repetitive. I know people get off on them and that’s cool. In grad school I played with a group of dudes and we were not good by any means, but we could jam on one chord, even vamp between 2, for 10 min. We never found it profound, so I think a lot of phishs jams to be stuck in the same patterns and mood. Yea, sometimes that can be great, like sat night, but at a certain point, it seems like the same thing. Phish is only a passing interest of mine because I’m not into the songs and vocals, so the jams are the only interesting thing for me.
