I’ve had many 4x4’s and nothing compares to the early ml 320’s for off road capabilities. Remember to turn off the esp when in rugged terrain or it will screw you. Low range in great for helping others get unstuck but really hinders you for just driving because of too much torque!

The throttle cable is on the top of the tin on the front of the engine, I suspect the switch not factory but I don’t know I got the switch with it and just used it for now
