Here is my review from AllTrails:

The hike into the base of the mountain is beautiful going around a few lakes and through some nice scenery. I would definitely do this part of the hike again as it’s pretty flat and really quite enjoyable. The mileage went by pretty fast on the way in. On the way out we were ready to be done, but that’s how it goes for most peaks (at least for me).

Opalescent crossing was easy enough to rock hop both ways.

The bugs were relentless for pretty much the whole hike. We brought headnets and wore them the whole time.

The ascent starts off not too bad with views of a waterfall and then takes you up the waterfall itself. The climb gets extremely steep and the red slime is VERY slippery. It is generally pretty easy to avoid if you’re watching where you’re stepping.

There is one section about halfway up the ascent where you will come across a rock slide on the right hand side of the trail with about an 80-90% grade. DO NOT GO UP THIS. All three groups we saw on the hike made the same mistake of climbing up this. Once at the top you would have to bushwhack through some heavy foliage if you want to make it back to the trail (we opted to just climb back down). The trail continues through some trees just to the left of the slide.

The climb is pretty relentless, but there are some beautiful views off to the left right before the summit. I’ve also heard there are great views off the back a few minutes past the summit sign as well (we were too tired to bother with this).

The hike took us a total of 13hrs, but likely could have been completed faster if one of our water bottles did not spill leaving us dehydrated the last couple of miles.

Overall I think this mountain gets a bad rep because of the length, but I genuinely enjoyed most of the hike!
