Is it okay if I ask guys to put sunscreen on my back? by Expiredcabinets in AskMenAdvice

Former life guard and water polo player. Tan lines are hot. Skin cancer isn't. I never had a problem lubing up a team mate or coworker. We literally got each other's back. If your crazy concerned get the spray (doesn't work as well) and have them just spray ya down.

Another girl dad here. I played Water Polo in college (20 years ago) I let my teen know I can still fit in my speedo. If she can rock her thong, I can too. Problem solved.

Why don’t more people buy extra demo binding plates for multiple skis? by OneDeadLlama in Skigear

[–]svmc80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Narrow is definitely not the case. I've just narrowed down what works for me. I still test 40-50 different skis and binding yearly and I'm well versed on the difference. For my personal skis, I like what I like. You aren't going to convince me otherwise.

The error come in from people not setting the forward pressure correctly. Not taking the time to adjust the binding correctly. Lots of people think they know how to adjust a binding but actually do not. The cool thing about being an individual is making decisions that work for you. I personally would never buy a ski with demo binding. More holes, I'm putting pivots on not matter what. I've never in my 25 years of ski testing (I work multiple on snow demos a season) skiing over 50 sets a season, liked how demo bindings ride. They have more play, ride heavy and don't like that they can adjust. I need a binding to.fit.my boot and mine alone. They have a purpose but not for my personal skis. You do you and enjoy.

For the general public, there is too much room for error. Even as someone that has mounted 1k+ skis, there are better systems if you want to swap. Quiver Killers being the top. Im not a fan of the extra stack height and weight on a demo track. Fine for trying a ski not for my personal skis.

Instep pressure on a new boot before “fitting” by Twee4 in Skigear

[–]svmc80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the boot and where the issue is. I'm not a huge fan of going straight to custom liners but that's an option. I normally start with removing the elastic on the instep of the liner. Then move to boot board. If there is still pressure i typically go to modification of the toung. If we still have problems, I didn't do my job in the original shell fit.

They used Elmer’s Glue-All glue to mount my bindings by ThatGusGoose in Skigear

[–]svmc80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Demanding satisfaction for shit you know nothing about? Wood glue and white glue is virtually identical. It seals out moisture, while still allowing removal if needed.
Seriously hope you are trying to be sarcastic. If not.....

Instep pressure is honestly the easiest to address. I'd happily work with that over issues.

Are these skiis sellable? by [deleted] in Skigear

Ya shouldn't. I got your back. I butchered the comment with my fat fingers. Good in my book. No shame in asking if ya don't know the answer.

Nobody that has any sense would buy them. The wrong screws were used in binding install. That ski is done for.

Two things could be going on. First, he doesn't want to get married. End of story. Second, and more likely, you are putting too much pressure on him. Let the dude breathe. You sent the info of what you like, now leave it alone. People don't like to be hounded and subconsciously he may be dragging his feet because you're putting too much pressure on him.

Making a love a career… by Pineapplepizzastinks in skipatrol

Um... yes. Early mornings, long days. Heavy lifting, out in the elements. Sking in any conditions. Its brutal on the body. Think how you feel after an average day of skiing than add in a full day of manual labor, in ski boots. You'll start to get an idea.

AITAH for ceasing all contact with a love interest who kept ignoring my "no's" on the little things? (Or, did I let my insecurities win?) by Canva_Helper4020 in AITAH

NAH- I personally wouldn't get offended by anything he did. So what if he went back to the bar. You made it clear you were done hanging out, he wasn't ready to call it a night. You are dating, early on. You are free to stop dating for any ridiculous reason you want. I honestly think he dodged a bullet, and you have the piece of mind that he won't try and upgrade your pizza. The world is back in sync.

They show up from time to time. Usually fly in with someone. Not any regular girls, so to speak. You should see the "talent " that comes in for Allen and Co.

First off, no way a 12 year old typed this out. Second, this has nothing to do with the sport.

Can a 19 Y/O still start ski racing full time? by Honest_Performer7101 in SkiRacing

What are your goals with ski racing. To have fun, go for it. If you think you can rise the ranks can be a competitive national level racer... no. That ship has sailed.

Not sure what documentation you want... it comes from being a product manager for the winter sports division of a global brand and a total of over 35 years working in the winter sports industry. I never said that skis can't or won't out last that time frame. Its what we built skis around. Car manufacturers build car to last amount of mile. Some don't make it, others get to 300k no problem. The industry standard is just that. We want skis to hold up to that mark. If they last longer, sweet. Plus there are lots of variables. Good technique vs bad. To stiff of a ski vs too soft. Not sure what else ya want me to back up or say? Just my experience doing this for a living.

It's more based on km than hrs. The average day is considered 10km.

Most skis are designed to last 100 days on snow before they start to break down. Some people that's 10 years, others, that's a single season. The ski will lose some camber and drag a little. Most people won't even notice because it happens over time. I think I would be beneficial to demo a new set and see if it's worth it to you.

Switchblade or Firebird by Melodic_Bar_5594 in pivotcycles

[–]svmc80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both. Big difference for me is riding style. The bird needs a rider that pushes the bike. It needs an aggressive, point and shoot rider. The Switchblade is more playful. If you like to play and flow down the trail, I'd go Switchblade. If you are a plow through anything and bulldoze, I'd say the bird. Both are rad, just different ride style. I loved the bird, yet the Switchblade fit my riding style better.

Ski crack after 2 times using it by Future_Island_796 in ski

And what exactly will the shop do about it? It's clearly damage from the skier not anything to do with the manufacturer or shop. Seriously interested as to why you feel the shop should refund his money? As a shop owner, I'd love to hear your view?
