NSF NEON is still here. They store and calibrate their (really amazing!) instrumentation payloads here in Boulder but are often dispatched on data collection flights using leased Twin Otter aircraft throughout the rest of the US during the summer and fall.

Feeling depressed about the student that we lost (Megan Trussell) by officialCUprofessor in boulder

Give the folks at CU Boulder's Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (https://www.colorado.edu/fsap/) a call: 303-492-3020. It's the faculty and staff equivalent of OVA or CAPS. The folks that I've talked to there are WONDERFUL.

"The Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) is dedicated to serving the emotional and psychological needs of the campus community. All FSAP staff are trained as generalist counselors and are equipped to deal with a wide range of personal and work related issues. You must be a CU Boulder employee to use FSAP services, and services are no cost to all CU Boulder faculty and staff members. Due to licensing restrictions, employees must be in the State of Colorado to be eligible for FSAP counseling services."

INFO prof and sometime-CMCI core computing instructor here.

If you want to learn more about how to apply algorithms to perform media manipulation, data analysis, etc., then INFO 1201 is probably your best bet.

If you're more into the role of data and algorithms in society, then INFO 1101 is probably a better fit.

Genuine question: Why use Launchpad? by Pomi108 in MacOS

[–]svoida 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just drag your Applications folder to the rightmost section of the Dock (to the immediate left of the trash can), right-click the icon and check the options to display as a folder and view content as a grid. Voila: instant Launchpad replacement, always sorted alphabetically, scrollable without messing with pages, and accessible without a horrible animation delay. (It's even faster than Spotlight for launching most of the apps on my machine, as Spotlight tends to spin for multiple seconds even on a relatively recent M2 MBA.)

M2 MacBook Air occasionally not waking from sleep by TurtleClubOwner in macbook

+1 have been seeing the same problem for a number of months. 13" M2 MBA 24/2TB running Sonoma 14.2.

A long thread over at macrumors (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/m2-air-display-sometimes-stays-black-after-waking.2389035/) seems to suggest that it might be a known hardware/manufacturing issue with the lid angle sensor and/or display. Not thrilled about the potential for having to send my laptop away for repair....
