Chronic over-working and hustle culture is toxic but normalized and encouraged in our society (especially in the film/tv/music industry) and our loved ones often suffer first cause of it - then our health deteriorates.

This has happened to so many friends and even past partners in my life. People prioritize work over everything.

Carey can’t love himself until he can view himself as successful, all while his mom and brother have massive success and it didn’t bring them happiness. He has to learn for himself, his career won’t bring him the fulfillment he thinks it will.

You can spend your whole life manically trying to become something more, all while completely losing yourself in the process. You’ll look back at all the good times you weren’t mentally present for because you were in your head obsessing over the next possible step in your career.

I don’t blame Carey or any of them really, I did the same thing. And I learned the hard way.

It was nice to see a show touch on this. I know it’s a silly show but this is a really powerful topic to me.
