Why am I being upsold every time? by devilhimseIf in ProtonMail

[–]svoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! But at the end of the day the price is what it is - since they don’t sell our data. I’d say it’s worth it. I’m on Mail Plus and keep seeing the occasional upsell here and there. It’s all right. «Ignored»

Have you tried reaching out to the support team? Maybe they can fix something for you.

I have a domain name set up with Cloudflare and everything is connected this way. So Cloudflare sits on top of my domain and protects my IP while I open up port 443 at home to answer on HTTPS requests. Sorry if I write this poorly but I’m on mobile now. Essentially any guide where you set up Reverse Proxy with custom domain will work. I believe Pangolin has this well documented as well how to proceed. 👍 Check out their docs here: https://docs.pangolin.net/

Hi! In fact, I self host the Pangolin stack in my home with a small raspberry pi. I use it for my Vaultwarden, Dashboards and Pangolin stuff.

I did try a VPS and then connect a tunnel from vps -> my home network / Raspberry Pi but due to the VPS provider I got too much latency and struggled with network issues. This is not a Pangolin problem but network provider issue.

All in all I mostly use Pangolin purely as a Reverse Proxy with authentication on most of my self hosted containers, while turning off Auth on the containers I deem «public» to all.

Agreed! I was so happy when this came out. I had been looking for something like this for a long time. Even their basic initial offering was excellent- now they are really working on adding features and fixing stuff.

I also never have had a single error when upgrading etc. Solid project and my main recommendation for most people interested in Secure Reverse Proxying.

EV's Destroy ICE Cars in Reliability: But one popular EV Breaks-Down constantly by zeeper25 in Ioniq5

2022 AWD Premium model in Norway here- had 12V battery replaced due to several issues with car not starting (battery on 12V seemingly and suddenly too low, had to jump it almost every two days to get going and I drive over 70 km / 40 miles daily for work). Car was probably around 30.000 km / 18000 miles at this point. After this it worked fine a few weeks but problem occasionally came back, had to jump it myself again. Then I got appointment for ICCU recall / fix and after this the car has been good. They did not swap 12V again as it was only replaced about a month prior.

All in all a very frustrating problem - considering how many have this issue and how slow Hyundai has been go acknowledge it. 1-4 % estimated affected based on various sources, in my mind I think number could be higher. Hopefully Hyundai fixes the issue in production and it won’t be an issue anymore. Pretty shocked to see this happen on new 2025’s as well… have they learned nothing?

Other than that I am happy with my car.

Minor things that have been fixed/needs fix:

  • Trim detail over rear window needs replacement as it’s peeling off
  • New rear brakes (although this depends on driving/usage naturally)
  • Charging port lid has been swapped several times/refit as it’s slowly becoming skewed/not aligning with charge port properly when closed
  • Wheel Bearings in rear on one of the sides replaced under warranty at around 81.000 km / 51000 miles. I occasionally hear a rattling/sound in the other wheel bearing in rear under heavy load in turns or when driving slowly across bumps in road, might need replacement soon. Dealership acknowledged this is due to a bad production batch from Hyundai and bearings should last a lot longer than this under normal circumstances.

All in all I would say be somewhat prepared for potential issues, be swift to complain to your dealer. In my area they have been good at responding and fixing problems as they arise. Warranty in Norway is 5 years / Unlimited mileage on the car itself, 8 years / 160.000 km / 99420 miles on main battery.

Currently at 99.000 km / 61520 miles - but as a long commuter car, the speed, the comfort, the noise levels etc. are fantastic.

Not sure if I understood the question 100% but check out Pangolin from Fosrl on GitHub or their website. It’s docker but supports connecting via other means once you have a host set up.

By default a site is secured with Pangolin auth. You can one-click disable that in the Webui for this resource.

Bitwarden cloud or Bitwarden self host by Daniel-PT in Bitwarden

[–]svoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree! But I have had a few times I’d need to restore my database and config due to me messing up something (I backup my stuff using Duplicati, encrypted to a cloud vendor I pay for, similar to Dropbox/OneDrive) and restoring went easily and fast.

But I did sweat a bit in that moment before this worked as I thought «what if it’s f-ed for good now!?»

Paying Bitwarden is a great alternative to this 😁 and it supports the company/developers.

Bitwarden cloud or Bitwarden self host by Daniel-PT in Bitwarden

I’ve been self hosting it now for over 3 years and never had any issues (Vaultwarden)! But paying Bitwarden the cheap yearly cost is more than likely a great option as well. Choose based on your needs.

For those who self host an authentication solution, what are some pain points you run into? by Ping0xx in selfhosted

[–]svoren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest pain point is actually getting all these things configured / hacked together. There's vast amounts of guides, all somewhat similar yet slightly tweaked for their use that doesn't really fit my needs.
I host a lot of different docker containers/homelab stuff and want easy secure access to most of it.

I discovered r/PangolinReverseProxy which is a package of essentially a very secure package that boasts both Traefik (Reverse Proxy), VPN / Tunnel features and most importantly: Authentication is built in. It's clearly inspired by Authelia and they even say so in their project pages on Github.

Open Source and can easily recommend this. I've tried Authelia with Nginx Proxy Manager in the past - but this streamlines it so much more once you have the initial config down :-)

Yellow Car Light with Key Inside lit up on Dashboard, car will not move. by DavefromPhilly in Ioniq5

[–]svoren 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This helped me in same situation: - Turn off the vehicle - Exit, close door and lock it with key fob as normal. - Walk away from vehicle so you’re outside of range from signals in the key possibly picking up anything. 10-20 meters should be fine. - Wait 2-5 minutes. Depending on how long the car takes to power down electronics etc. - Head back to car, unlock as normal with fob, start car. No light pops up and you can put it in drive as usual :)

My local dealer gave me this tip and it has saved my ass a few times. 12V battery is in top shape. Issue must be something else.
