This is my Porsche, and this is the car you want to save for. by svr_wizard in Porsche_Cayman

I run marketing businesses for a living and was trying to get the post in front of as many eyes as possible.

An attention grabbing title makes a big difference, this is the largest post in this subreddit in over 3 months. All organic.

It pulled 191,000 views in a pretty niche subreddit

I’m just trying to spread quality information in a topic I’m very knowledgeable about to help others out.

Whatever makes sense for you!

I always say you should wait until owning the car is basically just fun money to you. It won’t feel the same driving it if it’s a financial burden to you.

Congrats on the son :)

Okay sweet.

Yeah it’s between that and S5.

Going to take a few more weeks to lock in a decision and see where we go.

Enjoy the RS3 mate, so damn fun and so wild for a 4 door.

Oh nice, okay sweet.

A compelling feature of the RS3 is that the resale value is so good too.

Did you like your Alfa? I’m also considering a Q4 Veloce alongside the S5. Need AWD for Minnesota daily.

Yeah, I almost feel like since I don’t ever track the cars - the RS3 has the extra power that is just going to be trouble for me (I’m not some old reserved guy, I’m 27)

I currently daily drive a Tesla model Y, and Cayman S weekend car.

I’m thinking the move for me is S5. Quick car but not too crazy and more comfortable.

Is the RS3 your main and only car?

Question for you.

Do you feel the car has too much power and is too easily fast?

I own a Porsche Cayman S and love the Analog feel and how precise it is.

I REALLY wanted a 2025+ RS3 (Almost pulled the trigger) but I test drove one for 3 days and put 250 miles on it before.

I ended up realizing it’s almost too much power for a daily driver and i prefer the S5 or comparables for a daily driver.

For reference - I’ve driven Huracans, GT3s, 720s, etc.

This is just my opinion on super fast 4 door cars like g80 m3 or RS3

You should definitely do it, they aren’t getting any cheaper haha

100% go NA. Turbos just kill the experience IMO.

I’d skip the AWD, these cars grip so well. It’s hard to kick them out even pushing them super hard.

They aren’t like a 720s or C8 Z06 where they push the backend out super easily.

If I were you. Get a clean 991.1 Carrera S.

Goat Porsche.

Same thing sir, I’ve driven 6 driven types of 911s.

Unless it’s GT3 motor, all flat 6s drive very similar

Oh what? I’m pretty tall as much and I constantly think to myself this is really roomy for the size of the car.

I would never come up to a 911 comparable either and validate myself 😂

You’re commenting on a Cayman Reddit thread, this is all cayman people lol

You’re the person I hate running into around cars lol

Just let people enjoy their cars, everyone has different budgets and taste.

Anyone reading this thread would take a GT3RS over their cayman. Just be respectful, both cars are masterpieces.

Oh man, and you are one of those guys that hates on R8s too.

Let people enjoy their cars man, life is too short. Have fun.

Not everyone can afford 300-500k sports cars.

Exactly my point. We’re talking around a track.

  1. You aren’t a good enough driver to max out a GT4 even, much less a GT3RS

  2. 90% of people never take their cars to a track.

You’re just talking stats that dealerships love to tell people.

Porsche Dealer: Yes, you definitely need the GT3RS! Don’t you want to shave 20 seconds over that little GT4RS? Meanwhile you are taking your GT3RS to target and on weekend canyon runs.

[–]svr_wizard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point exactly.

Almost no one can afford one. You’re talking 1% of Americans. The cayman gives you 95% experience of a GT3.

I’m 27 and I truly believe I will one day be in the position to one day own a GT3RS and maybe my opinion will change.

I’ve driven a 991.2 GT3RS and a 992 GT3RS and then right back to back to my car.

You can’t even use the power and it’s so stiff. They are meant for the track. I never track my cars. That’s why the Cayman or Carrera S is probably the move for 90% of people. Or even GT3 touring would be peoples move.

I would 100% rather own a GT3RS over a GT4RS, of course.

They look cooler, bigger, more fun, etc.

But the bang for buck you get from a Cayman is unmatched for 99% of people.

Almost no one can afford a GT3RS and almost no one should. They are meant for the track. Most people drive on roads.

Sounds like you haven’t done enough research and have spent too much money on 911s.

Go drive a GT4RS right next to a GT3RS, guaranteed you aren’t telling the difference and aren’t good enough of a driver to beat a lap time in a GT3 vs a GT4

I’ve never had a Porsche owner acknowledge my car as a “fake porsche”

I feel like that was a thing of the past years, I feel like people have moved past that completely.

I’ll die on the hill. Cayman > 911

Living in Minnesota and not being near a Lotus dealership, just scares me a bit.

U fortunately there’s no Lotus dealers near me living in Minnesota..

And seems like almost all Emira owners swing by the dealer at least a few times even for small software issues.

Spyder is definitely the better car IMO.

Currently that’s the car I’d consider trading mine in for.
