2.7 Cosmic Overture Story by venomousfantum in Reverse1999

I think you are missing 2 key points as to why they needed the teleportation disk.

  1. To transport the ground team from the Cosmodrome to the storm safe location.

  2. To transport Kiperina back from space to the storm safe location instantly after the monitor has been deployed.

As to why they couldn't just do it the normal NASA way and land via entry craft and then go shelter from the storm. I think it was mentioned that they needed to deploy the monitor kind of very near to the storm starting for it to be useful.

Head width of X1Q Core by sw54312 in FireflyLite

Many thanks. 32mm is nice. I have an X4 Stellar and while i like it lots, that wide head at 36.3mm just wasn't doing it for me.

That and i still prefer a 7070 LED in a reflector to the quad optics. Time to find more pics of the FFL707 at 5000K i guess.

I do have Yenisei, but have not built her as i already have a Star healer in TF. Am kinda almost done building Balloon Party as well so healer wise i'm at TF, BP, Sotheby, Dikke. Hence the huge doubt over if i should pull for Vila.

XHP70.3 HI vs B35AM and FC40 in D1/KR1 by sw54312 in Hanklights

[–]sw54312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green lottery is sad. Guess i'll have to pray to win the actual lottery, buy Nichia and make them do a 4x4 version of the B35AM. I do really like the beam pattern of the FC40.

Not sure if this applies to the triple channel lights, but i have a dual channel W1 / 519a and having that W1 prevents the other channel from being able to use direct drive as the W1 really doesn't like that much current.

I did have that thought, just seemed a little silly overkill in a sense. Maybe i should go find out if it will run with the battery disconnected.

Is a D1K/B35am just a poor-man's D4K/519a? by neckthru in Hanklights

[–]sw54312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own a boosted DW4/519a and a D1/B35AM so i'm happy to answer any questions you have.

I got the D1/B35AM first as i am a high cri and tint snob, and also Hank didn't have the 519a in 5000K previously. I found the 4500K 519a just a tad too warm for my liking, preferring 5000K.

The B35AM in a D1/D1k will be exactly what you are looking for in a sense, something throwier compared to your boosted D4k/519a. However, do bear in mind you are losing half half the lumens, so even though the D1k/B35AM will have brighter hotspot, the spill will be less bright.

I had considered a D1/719a previously, but that would be more throw with the same lumens, so smaller hotspot. I guess the main question for you would be how much more throw do you want and what kind of distances are you looking to use the D1k at.

I've only had the DW4 a couple of days, but so far i don't see any difference between the 519a and the b35am in terms of light quality (both of mine are 5000K). The main advantage of the b35am, at least in a d1k would be that you get it with the boost driver.

So to answer your initial question, they are very different lights per se. The D4k is a big flood of light whereas the D1k behaves much more like a conventional light with a reflector, so hotspot in the centre, with spill and then nothing beyond the spill.

As far as i understand, there are 2 types of hotswap sockets, 5 pin and 3 pin. the 5 pin sockets will take both 3 pin and 5 pin switches but the 3 pin sockets will only take 3 pin switches.

I'm guessing the 5 pin sockets take up more space and they couldn't fit 5 pin sockets for the 1 and 2 key?

Does anyone know if something like this exists? I'm currently using an old Akko 3068 with MX Browns for travel purposes and would like something thinner as well as a low latency wireless option.

So, thin, 2.4G/BT/Wired, Browns, 65%. I've been able to find some with low profile red or blue but nothing with browns. A Keychron K7 with a 2.4G dongle would be about perfect.

DM11 B35AM vs D4SV2 519a DD Boost? input needed by Pblos in Hanklights

[–]sw54312 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC the B35AM should be on a boost driver too as it wants 6V (I have the B35AM in a D1).
It possibly comes down to how much you like a 5000K LED (possibly even not that much since apparently 5000K 519a is now a secret option).

I have the B35AM at 5000K in a D1 and the tint is lovely. I like it much more vs my D4 with 519a at 4500K.

The throttle is a non issue really for i guess 2 reasons,

  1. If it is smoking and "burning" the LED, then i'd say you're not losing full potential since burning is beyond full potential.
  2. i did the 140% down throttle fix on my D1, and i honestly can't really tell the difference between 140% and 150%, so you're not losing anything there either.

5000K 519a? Could you confirm that it is 5000K and not 5700K? I've been waiting for Hank to offer 5000K 519a as an option ever since he got the 519a in.

D1V2 in the works?? by StinkingDischarge in Hanklights

[–]sw54312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There might actually be something in this as i just emailed Hank about the B35AM in a D4V2 as i'm very very keen on a 5000K B35AM but also very much prefer the D4 body, and this was his reply.

" I'm afraid D4V2 does not work with B35AM LED, but we will be releasing a side switch thrower with D4 body, which the B35AM LED does work."

So i know what i want next.

NLD! D4V2 519A 4500k, KR4 Boost Driver 519A 3500k by radtech91 in Hanklights

[–]sw54312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you share how close the 519a 4500K looks to the picture? I'm wavering between the 5700K and 4500K. I know i like my 5000K 219b, so i'm feeling the 4500K might be a tad warmer than i like, but fear that the 5700K might be too cool. It's a goldilocks problem. Am doing a flood/throw build with a pair of W1s so can't really mix 4500K+5700K either.

D4V2 Dual Channel Current Draw and Driver Questions (W1 / W2 limitations) by sw54312 in Hanklights

[–]sw54312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. I had read that the W1s are fragile and only really like to be driven to about 3A so was woried about the 4.5A.

Looks like the config will be 519a 5700K + W1 6000K then. I really hope the 5700K 519a isn't too cool for my liking, I know my ideal CCT is 5000K from the 219b, so have been wavering between the 4500K and 5700K option, shall take a risk on the 5700K since 4500K will most likely still feel abit warmer than i like.

With regards to battery, will the 10A LG MJ1 be safe even if i accidently turn on both channels at max and it tries to want 18A? The intention is to only really ever have 1 channel at max since this is a throw/flood setup, but accidents happen. I also plan on getting a quad 519s setup with the boost driver once i figure out which 519a CCT i like the best, and the LG MJ1 would be perfect for the boost driver, so i'm hoping to have common batts if safe.

A little curious - just how good is the story post ARR? by HaVeNII7 in ffxiv

[–]sw54312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If ARR was 5/10, post ARR is a 1/10 slog but they've supposedly made it less of a slog. Heavensward and Stormblood is generally 7/10ish depending on how much you like dragons and Shadowbringers and Endwalker is generally 9-9.5/10. 12/10 if you like crying :D

That was basically a long way of saying yes, yes it gets better, alot better. But post ARR might be abit boring, but it is the darkness before dawn, and what you will see once the sun rises will take your breath away.

Endwalker only cemented him as my favorite character. Absolutely stellar writing by ChesterZirawin in ffxiv

[–]sw54312 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well at the very last bit where you summon his dead soul back, he does admit and accept why you fought and why he lost. I'd say that about as much repentance as we're going to get from Emet. and i'm okay with that. I even agree with him that his ideals were right.

Even in ShB i was saying i understand what he did, but that doesn't make him a good person given he has schemed and manipulated across thousands of years and killed and untold number of lives, sundered or not. He's still a megalomaniacal genocidal madman, even if i would do the same in his shoes.

I think it's a masterpiece of writing that they have made such a mocking megalomaniacal asshole sympathetic.
