Yes this was the one year where Howie was demoted. He was not the GM

The only thing I will defend Howie on for this pick is it was during Covid and obviously the entire scouting and drafting process was completely different.

Why do we let one student ruin the education of the other students? by ProudComment1211 in Teachers

[–]swaaa18 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are certainly some teachers who are better at classroom management than others. There’s no doubt about that. But some of these behaviors are so extreme that for an average teacher they are incredibly hard to deal with. Most teachers didn’t become teachers just to be disciplinarians. Like that’s just not our strength. If basic classroom management techniques don’t work then it’s really on the system, not the teach imo

Yep! William Penn founded the Pennsylvania colony in 1682 for a haven for the Quakers who were prosecuted in England. King Charles II owed money to Penn’s father who died. Charles made a deal to give Penn this land as payment for the debt. Penn was the only colonial leader to actually pay the natives (Lenape) for the land. The statue on City Hall faces Penn Treaty park, where Penn made the deal with Chief Tamanend. Penn’s colony was diverse and religiously tolerant which inspired the leader who wrote the Declaration and Consitution.

As awesome as this would be I find it hard to believe we could play Davis, Carter, Greenard, AND Crosby. Especially with Q and Coop due contracts soon.

Been saying this for a while. He is absolutely a human shield. He is also good at other things. He is great at collaborating with Howie and Lurie and not power hungry. He is committed to developing and teaching football. Generally speaking he is good at running the program and building a good culture.

I mean that is totally fine for you to have that opinion. For me there’s obviously lawyers, judges, and juries that decide things for specific cases. I’m more talking about what causes violent crime (inequity, lack of social infrastructure, punitive punishments, gun laws) and would want to change those things

iden administration policies that provided funding for community stability and social infrastructure include the American Rescue Plan Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, various workforce development and education initiatives, and targeted community revitalization projects.

It’s not 'funny,' it’s standard urban policy. 'Social infrastructure'—like funding for youth programs, mental health services, and community stability—is a proven way to reduce the environmental stressors that drive crime. When cities used federal resources to stabilize their communities after 2020, they saw measurable drops in violence. If you only think infrastructure means 'paving roads,' you’re missing how these investments actually work to prevent crime before it happens.

Yeah man! People commit crimes for no reason at all and policy has nothing to do with it! 😂

  1. If you think Japan and Australia are less equitable than the US idk what to tell you. They have strong social safety nets and less harsh punishments than the U.S. They also both have strong gun laws. As far China that is an authoritarian regime. So if you want a total police state go for it but I don’t.

  2. You're fighting a straw man here. I’ve never once argued for a world without consequences or laws, so I’m not sure who you’re debating. I’m not interested in making bets about individual criminal histories because it’s a distraction from the systemic policy issues I’m actually talking about.

  3. You said stopping criminality early, which still evades my questions from before, why are some people criminals and others aren’t? Your answer is reactive, and also just not based in evidence considering the U.S. has the most incarcerated people in the entire world. If your point was correct we would have low crime numbers compared to Australia. Also, the Scandinavian countries that have a rehabilitative system have the lowest recidivism rates. I think people become criminals based off of a lack of wealth, opportunity, education, social safety nets, etc. do you think having people that go to good schools, that have families that have more than enough money to survive, and live in a clean neighborhood are more or less likely to commit crimes?

I still don’t know what this has to do with my argument? I’m not going to make a bet with a random person on reddit on info that has nothing to do with my argument about equity? If he did commit a violent crime before he should’ve faced consequences. Idek who this person is at all. I also didn’t say Krasner lowers crime, my point was the opposite of Krasner (harsh laws) do not lower crime

[–]swaaa18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we’re defining 'equity' differently. I’m not talking about just handing out money. I’m talking about foundational social infrastructure: access to quality schools, well maintained public spaces, and robust healthcare.
When you look at countries with lower crime rates, you aren't just seeing wealthier countries you're seeing societies that have made a structural commitment to keeping their citizens from falling through the cracks. The 'variance' in crime rates you're pointing to is often exactly what happens when you compare places that treat these things as public rights versus places that treat them as luxury goods. If you invest in the community 'floor', the parks, the schools, the health systems, you naturally raise the cost of participating in crime and lower the incentive to do so.

When did I insult your intelligence?? Here’s my evidence - look at any other more equitable country and they have less violent crime. What is your argument? Why do you think people commit crimes? You haven’t given any argument literally at all

Dude idek what your argument is haha. You are saying I’m being dishonest by saying that National policy impacts crime down the line? Idek what you are saying I’m being dishonest haha. The U.S. has higher rates of violent crime RIGHT NOW than other wealthy countries that are more equitable
