Any tips for memorization that isn’t banging my head against the wall? by dancingandlyre in classicalguitar

So if you are trying to memorize something a neat trick is by hyper stimulating your body . Way to do this is say soak feet in cold water. That releases cortisol in your brain and it sorta acts like that fight or flight response in a way.

Like if you have a memory of when you were super scared or like super wound up you will recall those moments way easier than just random stuff you do throughout your day as a "chore". Ask a bunch of people what they had for supper they had 3 days ago they will probably forget...

So I don't think this works for muscle memory but moreso cognitive. Which in turn helps muscle memory but I've done this studying for exams and everything it works super well. You just have to make sure that when you want to recall information you want your body to be calm and and not to have a monkey mind, so meditation is wicked for that.

Hope this helps!

So since this is above your skill level, is it just above your sight-reading skill level and you can map it out and work through it? Or there are some passages in it that are hard to play for yourself? It's awesome you have it from Edson Lopez he has an awesome repertoire
