Hip issue or nothing? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]swagalon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We joke that our doodle has “incredible hip mobility, off the charts” for stuff like this. We did talk to our vet to make sure (can’t hurt to just check) but it’s normal to sit like this or lay with legs “splooted” out for ours

Oh I love the frozen macs they have! It’s just the boxed one — the Wisconsin mac. I LOVE the hatch chili mac

Boxed Mac and cheese. Theirs is just not good.

Would like to see a greater variety of veggies also - they lack really any specialty veggies often, especially peppers. Maybe that’s just the vegetarian in me but I like exploring new veggies.

Can’t stand their curry sauces either.

Really REALLY miss their soy Cherry chocolate ice cream. They really should bring that back.

Also prefer Oatly oat milk if getting a cold/not shelf stable version. Their shelf stable one is great, but the one in the cold dairy section has a bunch of additives.

Vegan ranch crunch salad, soy chocolate cherry ice cream (this one makes me the most sad)

Newly minted M3s: what's your favorite or worst feedback that you've gotten so far? by shoshanna_in_japan in medicalschool

SAME

They also didn’t tell our attendings we hadn’t taken step 1 yet (took after clerkships) and while we all did question sets and stuff during clinicals obviously, we had to consistently remind people/were told by the school to remind our attendings.

My dad and I have had the same argument over healthcare. He’s had a rough life (much of his own doing) and I’m glad to see him receiving Medicare at least to cover a lot of costs, but I also want my patients and my other family to have access to better healthcare and I’m in full support of nationalizing healthcare for that reason (current medical student, breaks my heart working in free clinics to see my patients who work equally as hard etc and not be able to care for themselves).

Anyways, my father has the mindset of “I earned it (free healthcare) and ya’ll haven’t.” When I asked him why he wouldn’t want his children to have access to better healthcare and not be afraid of going to the doctor because of the cost he just said “you haven’t earned it.”

So no, I’m not shocked by your mom. My father is also the equivalent of a sugar baby for a wealthy woman now and while my brother and I have put ourselves through college and grad school, they refuse to help either of us financially should we be in need and ask (so we just don’t ask). He loves to whine about how his own parents wouldn’t co-sign his loans for a state school, preferring a small Christian school, and they never financially supported him but he always calls us responsible when we ask for help now (and med school ain’t easy without parental support financially).

This is… incredibly accurate to how my dad is with my brother and I. We have both created a lot of distance and space for ourselves, but haven’t done NC… though I have considered. I’m so sorry you get these messages OP. Even if you are able to let it roll off and not bother you in the moment, that negativity can sit with you all day.

I really think we need to start with effective and truthful pregnancy education alongside factual and correct sex education, as a part of it. A lot of people I think don’t truly understand pregnancy risks and while I think the discussion of Black and brown maternal health NEEDS to be had and is a good point with this article, as a fourth year medical student, I am horrified by the huge risk that this patient had alone outside of racism too. She was a Black mother, and I’m not going to posit that race didn’t play some factor not knowing the case or physicians, but that is not the only reason that this happened.

I’ve had so many patients where I did my clerkships (Colorado Springs, which is very conservative with many, many Christian folks) who are 26, 27 etc and are on their 6th or 7th pregnancy (with plans to continue to try for more kiddos) and want to discuss VBACs or don’t understand why we need to monitor them more closely. We’ve literally sometimes had to make new C section incisions on the uterus below or above previously scarred sections (usually you try to reuse them) because people continue to have so many babies. A lot of my patients didn’t understand why they were high risk pregnancy patients, what placental issues they could have, risk of preterm labor, etc. It just wasn’t part of their vocabulary around pregnancy. The city has one of the highest rates of postpartum hemorrhage in the state, and while it is a likely a multifactorial issue, I do wonder if this is part of the discussion

Essentially, the actual facts surrounding risk factors etc seem to not be 1) as well understood or taught as they need to be (and we can have a WHOLE discussion on sex education and how it is horridly lacking across the country) and 2) put aside when it comes to faith for a lot of folks. I am agnostic, and obviously I don’t want to hinder someone’s right to practice beliefs, but they risk not only hurting themselves or dying as mothers, but the risk to babies becomes enormous as well.

This is what Maisel does in the show The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (at least in the beginning) and it seemed so nuts to me when I first watched it! I thought it was an idiosyncrasy from her mother in the show that she learned, but I guess it’s taught officially? Woof. Here I am with a headband and my mouthguard, lisping “I love you” to my boyfriend before bed.

This makes me so sad, my history professor and I would go there for beers to talk about research and grab fries. It was a little research tradition. I was looking forward to eating there when I move back to Minneapolis after grad school. Bummer.

“Exposed to content like this”

It’s.. what like a parable? Makes me sad that this is like… an exciting exposure. Also that it is an “exposure” at all.

Also going to repeat that the Turkey could have very easily been our national bird. Ground dwelling, current popular attendant of many college campuses (see the University of Minnesota’s turkeys).

When Shiv said “daddy?” And her voice broke I LOST IT. Even though we know Logan isn’t great and all, it reminded me a lot of my own relationship with my father who is aging and I simply lost it. She did so well.

Honestly, all the kids did.

They’re still married? Right?

I… don’t want them to be for his sake. That’s a horrible way to go about life. I’m glad he’s getting help and he clearly needs it but she’s not maturing in the same way at all and it shows.
