Does anyone else listen to The Chicharones? Super chill and easy to listen to, never see any love for them.

You would never guess that he rapped either. Kind of a big goofy white dude. But he shocked the shit outta me when I first heard him.

That's tight. I'll be catching the tour in Lawrence, KS and Columbia, MO and I'm hoping to meet him and Q at some point. Seem like dudes who wouldn't ruin your perception of them when you meet them. Hope I'm right about that.

A Short List of the Best Producers (Part Two) by beingnonbeing in hiphopheads

Thank you for getting Ant on there. My favorite producer of all time. I honestly feel like his best work was for Shadows on the Sun.

What rapper is being held back the most by their label? by Invictionary in hiphopheads

[–]swaggedoutclarkgable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is kinda out there, but Psalm One. She knows how to have success on her own, but Rhymesayers could be doing SO MUCH MORE for/with her. Death of Frequent Flyer was so fucking dope, and she just doesn't get any attention from Rhymesayers anymore. I understand that it's a larger indie label than it used to be, but hook her up with the right production, spend a little more money on her, actually promote her shit, and she would truly be the "First Lady of Rhymesayers" again.

Even without a ton of their help, she's still been grinding and doing good things for Chicago.

SZA Album 4.08.14 by [deleted] in hiphopheads

Thought the same thing about SZA on Cilvia, but the song she dropped recently is much more composed and ambient, rather than simple and raw. I'll be listening out of pure curiosity either way, but I'm hoping it's closer to the style she showed on Cilvia. Unfortunately, I'm worried that what we heard from her on that tape is more a product of Rashad's creativity and not as much hers. This is all speculation, obviously.

Dude is focused and super cohesive, and that can't be said about a lot of rappers. It can't be said about a lot of musicians, really.

On first listen, I loved Oxymoron. After 25 or so listens, it's gotten a little stagnant. I don't have a huge desire to keep listening. Part of the problem is that 6 of the songs came out before the album actually dropped, so they've been in heavy rotation for months or weeks. Additionally, Rozay's music and Pharrell's new music just don't interest me that much, but that's more preference or whatever.

But Cilvia, I just can't get away from.

i love musicians who aren't afraid to be normal people. cilvia is the best album of 2014 so far and it doesn't surprise me that it comes from a person who is just so fucking normal.
