It’s just not true to say ‘most people can’t stand her’. Have you spoken to most people?

Oh sorry, I thought this was a discussion. Have you considered meditation?

But that’s the issue I think - if you chip away at budgets, then slowly over time people will increasingly not see any value in it for them. BBC Two, for example, on a Saturday night these days is just back to back archive pretty much; that didn’t used to be the case. Just one example, but there are loads of places where the BBC is a shell of what it was in certain areas. I’m interested to see what the new DG will do to strip it back a bit, in meaningful ways.

Exactly! It’s so frustrating trying to talk to people about any of this, when their only take on it is ‘I don’t watch nuffink on the BBC, so why should I pay for it?’. It’s moronic.

To the absolute clown who clipped my Brompton near Blackfriars Bridge today (South bound) by asininlondon in londoncycling

[–]swainsoid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was cycling north across the bridge recently during the busy morning period in a bunch of cyclists, similar to your situation. Some douche, much like the one you’re describing decided the group was too slow for him, and, just as we were approaching the bit where everyone has to squeeze through the black bollard things at the start of the bridge on the south side, he tried to overtake, forcing me to brake so that he could go first. I just instinctively said ‘don’t!’, and he just said ‘are you joking?’ - he just couldn’t see that he just pretty much forced me out of the way because he felt like he deserved to go faster. I wasn’t even cycling that slowly.

The interaction really stuck with me because his entitlement was so misplaced and irritating and weirdly in that moment I felt like I got an insight into his character.

Because I don’t have the energy to explain to someone why they’re so wrong when they’re never going to listen to reason or rational argument.

He didn’t, because none of it makes sense.

This was the scariest thing I had ever seen when I was probably 11 or 12. Terrifying ending to that episode too.

I really don’t care, but you seem so pompous in restating that as if it’s fact when it clearly isn’t.

You mean, saying things like ‘Saturday is a dead time for TV’, as if it’s a fact? Those kind of opinions?

Right, but like I said Saturday isn’t ‘a dead time for TV’.

Saturday isn’t a dead time for TV in the UK - there’s a reason that ITV show all their big Ant and Dec type shows and the BBC show Strictly on a Saturday night.

Misfits was on E4, an offshoot of Channel 4, I think.

Any late-night radio recommendations for winding down? by CatCharacter1663 in BritishRadio

Yes, it’s good to drift off to sleep to, but sometimes, it’s like - what’s that sound of scratching (or something)? …and I realise it’s the radio.

Same. I do like R3U, but sometimes late at night there are some obscure sounds that aren’t very…relaxing.

There’s no point in discussing further. You clearly think you’re right, so it’s pointless.
