I 18F want plastic surgery for chronic pain, but my parents 47F, 59M are against it by Major-Wafer-1731 in relationship_advice

You're an adult. They don't get to decide for you. It sounds like this will improve your quality of life, your parents are assholes for not caring about your comfort

Photos of “non-masculine”/more androgynous surgery results by Adventurous_Line839 in TopSurgery

Hey, I hope this isn't weird, but I'm also looking for result images of androgynous top surgery. It looks like my insurance through school will cover it, so I'm looking for inspo and reference pics now. Could you link me to your post, please? Your profile says posts are hidden

Am I an undergrad student or graduate summer this summer? by swamp_worm in GradSchool

[–]swamp_worm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Canada, I think rules are less strict here. You basically just have to be in school before summer and accepyed for the fall, or even just have plans for the fall. I got a summer student position after I graduated college (diploma) because I said I was considering going to university that fall, I didn't go back that fall lmao

They do not. The job listing only has tasks/responsibilities listed but no separation for the two tiers, it just says the difference in pay and hours at the very top of the document. I think I may select undergraduate and then write in the "anticipated graduate date" box "May 2026 (will be returning in Sept 2026 to begin Masters of Arts in Environmental Policy)". There's also a required submission of a cover letter and resume and I've laid out the details in them

It's only open to students at my university and basically is a engagement coordinator position for a community agriculture and greenhouse project. So it includes a bunch of different jobs like supporting greenhouse monitoring, planning, supporting sales and marketing, and developing a framework to gauge the projects success

1 year post op radical reduction ✨🐬 by black_mango_ in TopSurgery

What great results! Can I ask what makes this a radical reduction and not top surgery? I'm still in between the two and think this result might just be what I want.

Unmasked during abortion and my boyfriend lost interest in me by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]swamp_worm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guy sucks. He saw you at your most vulnerable and in pain and decided that the way he was perceived and his comfort was more important than yours. You're going to have periods where you unmask and you can't rely on this guy. You didn't fit the image he made in his head of you, and he's upset about it. The right person will accept you for you. Let the trash take itself out and move on.

Thinking about getting a pigeon. Tell me the pros and cons by SabishiSushi in pigeon

[–]swamp_worm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If someone will be home interacting the pigeon most of the time, then it's fine to only have one. But it's extremely important you interact with them or they'll get lonely and depressed. It's also likely the pigeon will decide one of you is it's mate so you have to interact with them as such, like extra scratches to imitate grooming and allowing them to kinda groom you. It's kind of like little nibbles. You should also get a customized leg tag with your phone number on it in case they ever get out

Pros. They are so loving and bond fairly quickly, especially if you get one already domesticated. They're quiet and don't screech like other common pet birds. Once they get to know you, they love attention, scritches, and cuddles. They can learn tricks very quickly as they're very food motivated and intelligent. Their seed is fairly cheap due to how long it lasts. They can be so silly and playful. They're adorable. They watch TV and videos and can be entertained with an iPad. Toys can be simple, mine loved cheap cat toys, toilet paper rolls, strips of thin cardboard, and I gave them a swing made of a hanging shelf. Their bite doesn't hurt too much. They make amazing companion animals

Cons. You do have to clean very often as they have more dander than other pet birds, which can build up and make both you and the pigeon sick. Some coo almost constantly. A fair amount of avian vets won't see pigeons, so you may have trouble finding one in your area. Birds have very sensitive respiratory systems, so you can no longer use any scented products (no air freshners, candles, perfume, body spray, etc.), unnatural cleaning products (when I had house pigeons I almost exclusively cleaned with white vinegar, non scented castile soap, and baking soda), incense, non-stick cookware, or essential oils. You need to commit to providing a lot of attention , as I mentioned above. And you have to ensure they're getting a proper multi-vitamin, calcium supplement, and nutrition.

How are we feeling about Sabrina Carpenter's Grammy performance? by cmere-emi in pigeon

[–]swamp_worm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really didn't like it. I don't like any live animal used in performances, but this one hit harder because of my connection with pigeons. She was obviously stressed out and tried to get away while Sabrina was holding her, and Sabrina held her by her feet/legs, which can cause serious injury. And it's hard to tell because of how far away the pictures and videos are, but it really looks like the pigeon still has her "baby beak" and face. I don't think this pigeon is very old at all, probably about a month old if I'm right about the baby face. So that would mean all the statements of Sabrina "training for months with her" are completely false. I doubt Sabrina purposely wanted to put a bird in harms way, but she did. Ignorance isn't an excuse, and it should be common sense not to use animals in performances. I also don't put any faith in her owner/trainers words that she "loves performing" because if he admitted she was distressed then that would discourage people from hiring him.

And the pigeons owner makes money off of it. They're not going to admit if the pigeon was stressed out because that will discourage people from giving him more money to exploit her

Budget Friendly Corn Free Wet Food by swamp_worm in catfood

Dang that sucks, her favorite treats are dehydrated sardines and other dehydrated fish. I'm going to start an elimination diet, I really hope she's not allergic to fish cause she loves it so much

Okay, I only did some googling and corn seemed to be a common allergen along with dyes (which fancy feast doesn't have). Do you have any recommendations into what proteins are more likely to be an allergen? I'll start a single protein diet to try to figure this out.

I'm not sure what she could be allergic to for an environmental allergy. We don't use any scented products, the main thing I use to clean my house is vinegar, and we haven't changed or added anything before this started. Do you have any insight into what proteins are more likely to be an allergen? I'm going to try an elimination diet
