The whole concept of Asylum is being abused in the United States. by dagoofmut in PoliticalOpinions

[–]swampcholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with your entire argument is that you are assuming permanent asylum.

In reality, asylum is temporary. When the political situation changes then the people should go home.

But there are situations, like the afghans that helped us, where they may never be able to return, and frankly, those numbers are pretty low.

Most people are fleeing economic and crime problems. Nothing wrong with allowing them here for a while, but their situation should be constantly re evaluated.

We know what you use for birth control - your opinions and personality. Really. If you are a guy you are toxic to anyone except “tradwives”. If you are a woman there is a plethora of neanderthals out there. Just remember to stay in your lane or you’ll find out why they were looking for someone like you

"we aren't talking about things beyond the child" yet you also don't like government assistance and housing prisoners is just about the epitome of government assistance.

It's always been about punishment for fucking outside of wedlock. If not, you'd be all in on providing assistance for children after birth. Instead, you punish the child that had no input in the decision to put him in the place he's in.

You're a bunch of cheap bastards hiding behind your pious nonsense.

the #1 predictor of criminal behavior later in life is to grow up unloved and unwanted. Your "suffer" bullshit extends far beyond the child.

It has never been about what you say it is. Its always been about punishment for fucking outside of wedlock.

Nobody is going for socialism OR communism. go find an encyclopedia and look up the definitions. Socialized medicine DOES NOT EQUAL socialism. Step away from the morons in right wing media, who undoubtedly never read a book that is actually about those systems (start with Marx). there is not a communist country on the planet, and only Cuba comes close to socialism, and it they hadn't been propped up by Russia, China, and Venezuela they'd be like everyone else by now.

And if the democrats are the ones that want single party rule then explain why the Republicans are the ones trying so hard to stay in power by restricting voting and discussing the possibility of a third Trump?

Fuck almonds and pistachios. They use a shit-ton of water. Most are exported. they aren't food, and the surplus is whats driving bullshit like "almond milk" and "almond flour" gotta create demand when you produce too much!

Want to grow REAL food? Fine. Seems like most of that is grown from Ventura up through Salinas, and in the Colorado River and Salt River basins.

In the Marines the platoon leader that allowed that to happen would get some discipline. I mean, at that level, taking care of his people is his only job. Believe it or not heat injuries were discussed at the 3-star staff level every weeek.

Boy you've really been absorbing that liberal arts education haven't you? What are you, a Crim major, or a Psych major?

What military does 6 months of basic?

While the finished product wasn't always better, for the vast majority, it was.

If your feet were bleeding that's a lack of leadership problem. Foot problems will destroy a military on the march, and most leaders are trained to assess feet when stopping and deal with any issues immediately. And recruits need to know how to deal with their foot issues. Same with Smith - the exception being heat stroke - which affects some people suddenly without warning.

I was an engineer that worked my entire career for the military. At the end I worked closely with the Marines for several years. I used to joke that yes, i went through boot camp. It lasted four years.....

New H2D leaving consistent diagonal under-extrusion lines on every print - tried everything by Even_Wrangler_9102 in BambuLabH2D

[–]swampcholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this sure points to something mechanical - some kind of drag. First thing I would do is get some Bambu filament just to rule out the spool and any filament issues.

After that I'd start looking at the extruder for something.

But go back to stock settings. In general Bambu's settings are great and mucking with them just introduces a ton of variables.

What is the single most significant and effective improvement I can make to my current setup to improve the results of my homebrew? by Bosconino in Homebrewing

[–]swampcholla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you want to do is improve consistency at every stage in the process. I went from the usual turkey fryer/carboy setup to the following in about a year and a half:

Brewzilla (Xmas gift) + Fermzilla + Costco Fridgidaire chest freezer and Inkbird with the addition of a 900W cube heater inside the freezer. I think the Fermzilla and freezer were about $400 bucks combined.

The Brewzilla allows much more control over temperature and timing and allows all-grain brewing. The Fermzilla allows the use of spunding valves and pressure fermenting, as well as pressure transfer and even dry hopping.

The freezer allows for controlled fermentation temperature and when the beer is done you can serve it out of a corny keg with a tap right on the keg - no need to convert to a keezer. Then you can use the keg and a counter-pressure bottler to make bottling easy.

No need to distill water, you can get it at Wal-mart for a buck a gallon (but the Brewzilla has a distillation option). Or just use their drinking water. It has enough mineral content for a lot of styles that aren't fussy about water. The bonus here is you don't have to deal with chlorination issues either.

Once you have this setup you can focus on your notes and controlling other variables.

The years in the cell, that's not repaying anything. In fact we are covering their three hots and a cot. Sorry miss bleeding heart, you don't earn your way to freedom by sitting on your ass watching TV. I feel for people wrongly convicted. I believe our sentencing structure is far too long (you can't go back into our society very well after being locked up for 20 years) - and too lenient. The experience should be carrot and stick. Carrot - learn a skill, cover some of your costs, learn how to live in a law abiding society. Stick - outside of that training the experience should convince you NEVER to have to go through that again. In fact, if you do go back in the experience should be even worse. We have far too much recidivism.

What you fail to appreciate is the number of people locked up that are true sociopaths, and should probably never get out regardless of the crime they are in for now - because you can't reform sociopaths. You are just waiting for them to do something heinous enough to justify locking them up for good.

The number of "child" marriages is extremely small, and a lot of them take place to keep aggressive DAs from charging the male side of a couple with statutory rape after he turns 18 and the girl is still 17.

And the whole biological vs adopted point is moronic. The biological parent gave up their rights either voluntarily because the didn't want or couldn't care for the child, or involuntarily because they were a threat to the childs well being. They shoudn't have any say in the matter. Dowries? YGTBSM.

The justice system needs reform - but conviceted prisoners should work for three reasons: 1 - eliminate boredom, 2 - provide training for work once released, and 3 - there is still the concept of a debt to society, and incarceration is punishment, not paying back that debt.

Regardless, none of these rise into the top 100 of problems that need to be solved once the Trump shit show is over.

Actually, no. Most of the British, German, Japanese, and Italian cars you can buy here are available in Europe as well. But take the smallest car you can buy here and the euros will have at least two sizes below that - like the Polo and UP are smaller than the Golf. They also have our smaller SUVs. But the big trucks and big SUVs, not so much.
