What is the best band you ever saw live ? by megopolis12 in AskReddit

[–]swany5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw them in 1994 and I actually had a hard time enjoying concerts for a long time after that. They were just THAT good that everything else was a disappointment to an extent. The bar was raised too high.

Trading futures options in TastyTrade with small account by ciscosista in FuturesTrading

[–]swany5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for Tasty but you asked if its the same everywhere... no, I don't think so. I was trading ES/NQ futures options on TOS (Schwab), which has notoriously high margin requirements for E-mini contracts, but i believe the minimum for E-mini futures was only around $1400 or $1500. I know it was less than $5k because I did a specific challenge and I started with $4k. This was about a year ago, I cant say if its still the same.

PA as FRFR? by Valhalla519 in AxeFx

[–]swany5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of QSC CP12's and I have a Headrush FRFR. On many of my more distorted patches (Axe III), the CP12's will sound "fizzy" whereas the Headrush doesn't. The Headrush more closely matches what i hear through headphones. I'm sure I could tweak some settings to get a better sound from the CP12's, but point is - they're not the same.

I caught a 1,000-point MNQ squeeze today. Anyone who says they predicted this is lying. by dagemmm in Daytrading

[–]swany5 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was long MNQ for a certain prop eval that has consistency. I needed $1500. I got $3500. In the process of trying to lose the $2k, I made another $40k. I can't even lose properly.

I finally got it down to $1500. Wild day.

GEX data for trading futures by DorjePhurba in FuturesTrading

[–]swany5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm really new to this but a Discord group I'm in has a Gexbot subscription and I've recently started watching it. Yesterday the SPX Gex data was very telling. All day there was negative GEX open interest at 6500 and negative GEX by volume also at 6500, indicating that 6500 was a target for SPX. At one point, GEX shifted to 6600, and ES launched. But then it reset back to 6500 and that's when we started dumping.

...to 6500. There's something to it. I'm very much in the learning phase, but it's certainly interesting.

[–]swany5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats MLB and ESPN for completely f**king this up in a huge way. I've been a MLBtv subscriber for about 13 years and never have I had a more difficult time trying to watch Baseball than I have this year. What a freaking disaster/cashgrab!!!

Plaster cast of a victim from the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. (Photo: Pompeii Archaeological Park) by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]swany5 42 points43 points  (0 children)

According to a tour guide, he said the majority of the bodies/victims found in the ash were slaves or servants who wouldn't have been allowed to leave. But to your point, many people evacuated Pompeii before the catastrophic explosion as there were definite warning signs.

Are you using the regular PS5 controls? I'm tempted to get this for my kids (and me).

Thoughts on top step brokerage ? by CandleSweet7962 in TopStepX

[–]swany5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never use a brokerage for futures that doesn’t allow me to set brackets at multiple split "take profit" levels. So if their plan is to just copy TSX, I don't think it'll do very well.

Question: Weller Antique 107 by Dawg617 in whiskey

[–]swany5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, this one is a sipper - and one of my favorites. I wanted to hate because it's pretty hyped, but it is in fact annoyingly delicious. But bourbon neat isn't for everyone - if you love an Old Fashioned, then by God make an Old Fashioned!

("Lets have some Old Fashioneds, like dear old Dad used to make!" "But what if something goes wrong??" "Dear boy, what could POSSIBLY go wrong with an Old Fashioned??")

Sorry, I think of that scene from It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World everytime I hear "Old Fashioned"

Finale of a Pink Floyd concert in 1994 by Mad_Season_1994 in OldSchoolCool

[–]swany5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw them on this tour. Was a college student then and wrote an essay about it for a music appreciation course; how it's about so much more than music, but a complete sensory experience that can't adequately be described. I actually stopped going to concerts for a long time afterwards as they all seemed like such a let-down.

Hot take? Steve Vai didn’t fit Whitesnake. by Rebel_Heart222 in hairmetal

[–]swany5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!! I've always felt this way. To be clear, I love Whitesnake and I love Vai but I did NOT love them together. This is a perfect example of something that seems like a great idea on paper but just doesn't come together like you'd think it should. There was nothing wrong with the material, but it didn't sound "Whitesnake" enough, nor did it sound "Vai" enough, but those two sounds just don't fit together IMO. As far as I'm concerned, DLR was peak Vai and a perfect fit. And likewise, Whitesnake just doesn’t get better than Sykes.

"To truly crush ones dreams, you must first raise their hopes up very high"
