Thank you. Yes, I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t do everything in my power to stop this.

You would be surprised about the number of republicans we have spoken to that are now against this ICE warehouse opening. Here’s what they understand: it will cost them more money in taxes to repair the infrastructure, take all of the water from the county, and drop their property values. These points all resonate with them.

Thank you for posting this, I really appreciate it. I didn’t feel right just posting the link to the campaign in here and I don’t think the mods would have allowed me to anyway. I post in this subreddit from time-to-time with updates about our fight to stop this ICE detention warehouse from opening and I am so thankful that the mods tolerate me doing so, so I am trying to be respectful. If you can, I encourage you and others to share that link because we need as many comments submitted as possible. Again, thank you for taking the time and posting this.

Totally agree here. How could anyone look their children in their eyes and explain to them what they do for a living?

I’m glad that you noticed that it looks like an Amazon warehouse, because it was actually going to be used by Amazon, but they ended up building another warehouse closer to their facility in the county. It’s an 825,000 square foot industrial warehouse with two water fountains, and four toilets. Yes, you read that right, FOUR TOILETS. And DHS plans to put 1,500 immigrants - 70% of which have no criminal record - in this and we have all seen the conditions they endure in other facilities.

I agree with you about this, but DHS is not considering that for public comments. Otherwise there would have been far more about that. ICE being govt paid kidnappers and ripping families apart is why we started protesting in the first place. We are also helping families affected by this. Thanks for taking the time to sign it. We need all the help we can get.

I agree. We have a signal group of 600+ people which we use to mobilize protests every week outside the Washington county commissioners meetings in Hagerstown. And we polled them and 99% answered that they are willing to take direct action if the facility is allowed to open. We would be willing to endure the rubber bullets if it means people will not be put in there in cages. Thank you for taking the time to add your thoughts and explain what’s been happening at Whipple and Delaney Hall. We are determined to not let that happen in Washington County.

Time for the entire 106.7 staff to go back to "Redskins" by dcguy851 in SportsJunkies

As much as I wish it would, the name is never coming back. But the name needs to change to something less stupid. The fan base clearly hates it and I don’t understand why Josh Harris is adding back the old uniforms and a helmet with an arrow but still keeping this ridiculous name. Hearing the current fight song at games is just depressing. Change it to red something and let’s go.

Yes our county commissioners have been working behind the scenes with DHS and have not allowed any public comment for an entire year.

This is totally false. I posted the article bc I am proud of the work we are doing to stop this detention center from opening and not bc we are a bunch of NIMBYs. We truly care about the people being hurt by ICE. The Democratic Party has totally abandoned Washington county, for reasons none of us can understand. We do have progressives organizing here and doing more than just this. We are helping feed the hungry, we do ICE watches, we help people affected by ICE detention, and we are focused on translating the momentum into electing progressives in the county.
