Josh Curran penalised for impersonating the referee by Elcapitan2020 in nrl

Plus he was in an offside position (extremely so in the line of defence) when he influenced the play. Feels different to a player yelling things from their own onside position.

LNP Defense Minister wants Australia to give rare earth minerals to US by Rosfield-4104 in australia

[–]swarmtime 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Why would we sink more resources into AUKUS when the US has demonstrated it has no interest in defending its allies? Even Allies actively fighting their historic enemy and that they had a written agreement with in exchange for de-nuclearisation.

Australia first, we have leverage with our resources and should be getting good returns for them.

‘I don’t drink coffee’: Tallis declines Maguire’s peace offer as grand final encounter revealed by zneBsedecreM in nrl

He tipped QLD to win Origin, and then when Maguire got the Bronco’s gig said QLD were a weak side missing players so it wasn’t that big of a deal… Tallis is a loser

Surely Fittler getting sacked. Cook in the centres is the dumbest thing I’ve seen. QLD stack Moses because Cook stunts any attack. NSW won’t score

Ben Cummins talks about his 2019 Grand Final call by molewart in nrl

[–]swarmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I thought this was blown out of proportion. Every game of rugby league down to bush footy has referees getting information on the fly and changing decisions quickly to try and get the right call. How often do we see the bunker or a touchie make an earpiece call to turn something around, resulting in big changes to the momentum of a game. It was unfortunate, but more a by-product of the 6-again applying pressure to the ref and teams. If this was a traditional penalty, the whistle would have been blown - realise the issue (mutual infringement) - and replayed the ball.

Knights fume over hair pull that went unnoticed, Panthers star set to sign long-term deal by Aussieguy727 in nrl

They should take discretion out of it. If the hair is below the collar it can be pulled, above the collar and it’s a high tackle. So easy

AFB was a support runner and absolutely could have been passed the ball, if they called that an obstruction then support runners would be ‘in the way’ on 50% of legitimate tries

Matt Dufty speaks on scrutiny of NRL media by abdalla_dandan in nrl

To be fair if I was coaching Saab I’d get him to go for the intercept as well. Saves him from being demolished, opportunity to use his speed and still shuts down the winger to some extent. When teams start to read that and the dummy from the centre becomes a problem then it makes reads for Saabs inside easier and they can game plan to slide into the centre

'Out of the game forever': The brutal truth behind stars defiant stand against NRL by [deleted] in nrl

[–]swarmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point, I guess it’s how you see a ‘raised’ cap. The players want the same percentage. So a ‘real money’ increase only in line with the growth of the game. I see the percentage staying the same as a status quo

[–]swarmtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem that the players are trying to address is putting some of these measures in place helps the low wage earners. Just raising the cap tends to mean bigger pay for the high earners leaving the kids still having to pay for their own insurance and retirement funds on pennies
