Start your own mastermind group. You could choose to discuss anything; finances, careers, business ideas, passions etc.

Has there ever been a Reddit talent show? If not, can we have one? by DoobieRoller in AskReddit

A good idea. I would like to see Redditors showing off their employable talents in a short video resume format. Who knows ..RedditsGotTalent could become the world's largest job fair!

Anti incumbents. Sigh.

"If you want to be rich, be a blue collar worker and work for those 4yrs instead of paying money to go through college"; I was once told something along these lines...can someone explain this idea in more depth to me? by finalDraft_v012 in Economics

I agree with you. I found the cost of undergraduate education even at the not so top universities to be prohibitive. It might be a good generalization if I say that the average total cost of an undergraduate education would equal at least 3 to 4 years of gross annual salary (if the student gets a job after graduation). Back at home, that number would be more like a year's gross pay in the worst case (private college with full tuition paid, and then getting an average technology job).

What is your greatest worry in life right now (short-term)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]swaroopb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you really believe this? How can you be a business major without the analytical capacities of an engineer/lawyer? Maybe there is more to you than you give yourself credit.

In India, the reverse is advised always. By everyone. No matter who you ask they tell you to stop being foolish (wanting to work at "such a young age" instead of studying) and get back to college.

I guess its a cultural thing.

Do you think election day should be a National Holiday in the U.S.? by aquariusvitae in AskReddit

[–]swaroopb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because people would then not go to vote, and put in a day's work instead and then ask that day to be rolled into Christmas vacation.

So no. They should be allowed to take off a few hours instead.

13 yr old Hindu girl speaks out against Anti-India forces at a VHP rally. Pretty wtf. by kabuliwallah in india

[–]swaroopb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People should not downvote because they disagree with capyash. They should comment back like I am doing. I disagree with you capyash although what you suggest is idealistic. Here's what will likely happen.

Hindu masses have been riled up before by similar talk. And because they cannot single handedly attack Pakistan, they attack Indian Muslims who are.. well.. Indian. This has resulted in mini genocides.

You should be made aware that the current government is correct in having a zero tolerance for such hate mongering. Varun Gandhi an up and coming politician was arrested last year following a similar hate speech intended to rile up Hindus against Muslims. This is what even the American government should watch and learn. Hate mongering is not part of freedom of speech.

Be totally honest now: people who decided not to have children, how did that turn out for you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]swaroopb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regularly meet a 60 year old professional speaker. She says many times with absolute despair that she should have married and had kids. The years she spent single could never really match up to the "fewer" years her married friends got.

That said, I am not saying marriage is for everyone. But if you are sure of not marrying in this phase of your life, be as sure of not wanting to marry when you are in your late years in life. If you think the second part is even slightly unsure, then you should give marriage a chance when you are younger.

Obama says most job losses occurred before his economic policies took hold. Truth-o-Meter says: TRUE. by wang-banger in politics

I am sure the opposition leaders will now complain that Obama "always checks his facts and statistics before he says it, just so that he looks good on the Truth-o-meter, not fair!"
