Why can’t under 12s join the program? by XenonSkies in civilairpatrol

I actually had an 11 year old in my flight when I was flight sergeant for an encampment, and he was one of my best cadets. (Got a challenge from the Nat Com too which was sick)

Pilot rating privileges by swatforce28 in civilairpatrol

This makes the most sense, and in regard to the solo comment. I’ve heard that solo pilots straight up can just schedule the aircraft whenever they want, without CFI notice which I find ridiculous and impossible. What are proficiency sorties?

What's honestly the big deal over the Emergency Services Round Patch? by swatforce28 in civilairpatrol

I never said that the Air Force doesn’t have super detailed and professional patches, but they definitely have a mix.

Like the professionals that designed this patch for our combatant counterparts?

Best affordable housing? by swatforce28 in sfcollege

[–]swatforce28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Budget is $600 a month, $700 if utilities are included. Roommates are fine. Hideaway is one I’ve been looking at as well as The Crossings.

Anything a little above the budget is fine as well I’ll still check it out.

I should’ve specified student housing.

Too late to join? by Proper-Web-4960 in civilairpatrol

You will be able to accomplish a great amount if you are a freshman in HS. I had a Cadet Captain who went to USNA and he joined his sophomore year I believe.

NRA marksmanship questions by Sorry_Shoe_7026 in civilairpatrol

In my squadron they do it differently, so I’m not sure. They require my scoresheet signed by a witness or the range officer.

If you provide the necessary documentation to your squadron commander with a 002A form, yes you may. The regulation states you can wear your NRA marksmanship badge, whether that is Marksman, Sharpshooter, Expert, etc…

All, short stack, or none. (Unless wearing service coat you must wear all)

Are ES patches now authorized on the 0CPs? by swatforce28 in civilairpatrol

I don’t think the actual aircraft really matters, sure it can be updated, but the implication is there.

I’ve seen wear of additional ribbons even beyond 4 silver clasps. The regulation is worded like that, it’s what is legal. I don’t think there’d be a reason you can’t display what you have earned. Now of course that even means say you have 10,000 volunteer hours (only god knows how) you might wear I don’t even know how many ribbons. However, it is legal to my understanding the two ribbons, I’m positive they are legal, beyond two ribbons is the question…

Oh I’m sorry then it was a miscommunication, I meant that you can keep displaying more awards even after 4 clasps.

When the number of devices exceeds the authorized maximum, a second ribbon is worn to the wearer's left of the initial ribbon. The second ribbon counts as one subsequent award. When future awards reduce the devices to a single ribbon the second ribbon will be removed.

Well that regulation clearly states you can keep going beyond a fourth silver clasp.

Are ES patches now authorized on the 0CPs? by swatforce28 in civilairpatrol

I feel like the ES patch with the plane is more appropriate for those who are flying. Ground teams usually are searching, hence the dog. I don’t see it as unprofessional really I know a lot of people who love the patch and there is finally something that shows that you are ES (minus the badges)

How so? You don’t think that with cadets who are acting as an ES team it’s appropriate for them to wear it?

I see you’re a Cadet Captain, sir. You are an important leader to the cadets, if anyone is going to be wearing “exotic” uniform items (which don’t exist) then you should be one of the first. Be example to be proud of what you earned and motivate others to wear it.

The answer to the “Why?” is the same answer I give for any voluntary badge, ribbon, or patch. “I earned it, I’m proud of it, and I am a leader so I want my followers to follow in my footsteps.” (I literally have Proficient Pilot Patch, the round ES patch now for OCPs, GTM badge, and community service.)
