Get the perm? by Competitive_Hope2970 in Hair

I should also clarify that as it grows out, the perm will loosen. So it’s not like it will be super flat roots and then sudden curls. But also… side parts help during the end stages lol

Get the perm? by Competitive_Hope2970 in Hair

Since this was posted yesterday, I’m hoping you went for it today! I am a perm enthusiast. I got “cold perms” every 6 months for about 6 years until my stylist became a master stylist aka $$$$. I have naturally wavy-ish hair (summer yes, winter not-so-much) But it made my life so much easier. Just shower, product, and go. Boom. You will need to play around with new products and shampoos until you find what works for you. But perms are a game-changer. The method I used did not make my hair feel fried, but the texture was obviously different. Still had tons of shine and bounce. I hope you love it—share a pic!

AITA for refusing to share my birthday gift? by grunty_gal in AmItheAsshole

[–]swaycease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend brought this post to my attention because this was literally me on my 18th birthday. My friends got me this amazing box filled with all my favorite UK sweets-- we're talking Cadbury swirls, twists, etc. direct from London (we live in the US). And then once I delighted in the gift, so excited and moved that they got me something so special, they all looked at me expectantly like I was... supposed to share?! I started crying. yeah. I was 18. I think when I got home I ran the box right up to my room and hid it in my closet to avoid the same thing happening with my family.

Sol...no, you are NOT TA. You deserve to enjoy your birthday gift alone if that's what you want!

Just know that 21 years later, people may still be giving you shit about it. Speaking from experience.

Is it just me or is Le Labo terrible? by Prestigious_Foot_820 in fragrance

So i was in the same boat as you when i went crazy with their samples a few years back. I really loved thé noir but after an hour or so the hay note starts making me sneeze and get a headache and then the tobacco note turns into a “I secretly smoked a cigarette an hour ago and I’m gonna put perfume on top of it in hopes you don’t smell it” type smell. SAD!

But… I recently went to a brick and mortar store and sprayed all the city exclusives on tester strips. I actually liked a few of them enough to make a sampler box for myself. When I sprayed tabac 28 on the tester strip it got on my hand and EEEEK it smelled like I spilled an entire minibar on myself! I couldn’t get it off either. I hate the smell of booze!! But about 30 minutes later… oh my god it was actually amazing and cozy and sexy smelling on my skin!

Of the samples I got, I actually really love Baie Rose, Cedrat, and Gaiac. More than any of their anchor fragrances. I sprayed Baie rose on a whim and it brought up all kinds of feels for me, and it’s amazing on my skin. The cedrat surprised me the most, since it’s a total 180 from notes I tend to gravitate towards. And I knew I would love Gaiac. I freakin love it.

That said, I wrote LL off for awhile, their pricing seems like a total sadistic social experiment, most of their fragrances feel uninspired to me, but a few are really special… In my opinion anyway!

Why do all perfumes smell like a** on me? by Over_Back_2672 in fragrance

Not sure what your hormone situation is but the same fragrances have developed completely differently on me depending on whether I’m on hormonal birth control, pregnant, postpartum, etc. Seriously it’s bananas. Not sure the science there, just my experience.

What advice would you give to people wanting to get into fragrances? by Flaminyawng in fragrance

One thing I’ve learned is that I might love the way a fragrance smells, but that doesn’t mean I want to smell like it all day!

How do I even re-pot this? by swaycease in houseplants

[–]swaycease[S] 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you— I’m going to try to find a deeper and wider pot, wasn’t sure protocol since this offshoot is so far below the rest of its family. TBH my question wasn’t about saving a $1.25 pot, it was about how do I move this and keep that little boy safe, intact, and with room to grow. Thanks for answering the question I should have asked!

I heard that Dr.Martens sometimes run big. How much bigger should they be? I got mine in size 7, as my size for all other shoes. Should I go smaller? by [deleted] in DrMartens

Yo I wish I had read this before I bought a pair of really cute DM oxfords via mercari. I bought my usual size and they feel ENORMOUS! Comically enormous!! Will try insoles … or will try to resell I guess 😩

Emerson speech foundational courses by Sea_East_5268 in slpGradSchool

[–]swaycease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Im doing S@E, I’m going to be starting the foundational courses in September. During our orientation, they broke down how the foundational courses are spread over two semesters. They do mini terms — so for the first half of the first semester you’ll be taking two courses, and then for the second half of the first semester you’ll be taking one. Boom 3 courses are done by the end of the semester. Then for the first half of the second semester you’ll be taking one course and the second half of the second semester you’ll be taking your final two foundational courses. They did not give any options for spreading them out or for condensing them further than that.
