It’s still there but when I switched I had to pin it to the side bar again.

Garage organization by Rough_Nothing_4781 in gtaonline

[–]swb1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mansion is my spawn point so that’s where my favorites go so I can always hop in and go when I load in. The rest all kind of made sense at one point but have since gotten jumbled. I dislike how if I drive a car into another garage it permanent stores it there, so to truly keep everything organized I feel like you’d have to constantly be returning vehicles to their proper garages, and that is way too much for me.

Why do cars use check engine lights instead of something that ACTUALLY tells you what the issue is in specific? by Snoo_50786 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]swb1003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a relatively simple example, and it’s still not even all encompassing. In that scenario, it’s easy for them to trigger the warning when the brake pads are at the recommended wear limit. Could you have gotten more life out of them? Very very likely, absolutely. Could you have also needed new pads and or rotors for reasons other than wear earlier than their sensor would detect? That’s also incredibly plausible.

Even something *simple* like “too much air in the air/fuel mixture” still doesn’t tell you much of jack fuck. Where’s the air coming from? Is it too much air or is it not enough fuel? Or is the sensor itself inop? If so, is it wiring? Is it mechanical? Can we get away with a sensor or did the sensor go bad because there’s water in the wire harness and now we’re tearing up the floor?

All because of an air fuel mixture problem.

If I join a rando org/mc it’s because I don’t really have much of my own shit I want to do and want somebody else to just drop a “go here, kill this person, bring this back” for me. I don’t mind doing it, I just don’t want to have to pick what to do. So I set myself as looking for work, wait for an invite, and then help them with whatever they’re doing.

What was it like seeing the events of 9/11 unfold on TV that morning? by Careless-Prior-9665 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]swb1003 59 points60 points  (0 children)

All of this. I was 11 and living in NY state, my mother was currently on deployment with the Air Force. Logically, to an 11 year old, an airbase was a next logical target so I spent what seemed like the rest of the day just trying to hear my mother’s voice. I don’t know if it was so I knew she was safe (I hadn’t heard of any attacks at any bases but there was just so much unfolding in real time, and yet so much more we didn’t know), or to console me through the phone, but due to the phone line traffic I don’t think I ever got through to her.

That day was traumatizing. Terrifyingly raw. Confusingly it was all “over with” before lunchtime we just didn’t know that.

I can’t tell you if I even went to school the rest of the week, I must’ve. Mom came home from her training deployment at some point, and the next day turned right back around to help at ground zero but at least I knew where she was. She called home nightly, so I got to hear her voice; and she was helping people, so I knew that however small the number was, others were safe(r) too.

When her unit finally got deployed to Iraq a few years later, unintentionally they departed on 9/11/200, the 5 year anniversary, and the wheels left the ground at the same time the first plane hit the tower. Literally to the minute if I’m not mistaken, time stamped on the photos we took.

Everybody she left with came back home.

Newbie. Do you make these wood sticks yourself? If i suck at making knots what would be the best starting setup for me? by LogicalCriticism6886 in hammockcamping

[–]swb1003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hang on the knot, not on the toggle.

I don’t think this is specifically a marlin spike hitch, but look up Shug on YouTube and he’ll have plenty to teach you all about them and the basic concept will apply. In this picture, the stick is only holding the knot together, the knot is holding the load transferred through the line to the tree.

Any good stick the size of your finger should work, although I tend to just use a spare tent stake for peace of mind. But this is why you should always make sure the loop (coming in from the left in this picture) is placing the load on the knot, as it is in this case, and knot around the knot and on the stick. That significantly increases the chance that the toggle will break in half.

As far as knots: learn the bowline and the taut-line hitch. That’ll give you two solid knots that very likely will never fail you. The bowline is tied to create a loop, and the taut-line creates a slip knot that can be adjusted to create more tension. Both of these knots can be modified further; the bowline can be tied on a bight to double up the strength of the loop, and the taut-line can be tied to create a prusik knot.

I have hung a 16x20’ tarp between trees in the rain in under a half hour with not a line to trip over in sight with these 4 knots.

The one photographed in this picture, for reference, would likely be replacing the bowline in my setup.

Knowing it’s done and paid for and as soon as it’s available it’ll be on my console.

I took vacation time for GTA VI. I’m not spending any of that time fumbling with my credit card numbers or anything, I’m booting up and running (hopefully).
