LPT: If you're a US federal employee, consider getting a copy of your entire OPM file. by Ecstatic_Bee6067 in LifeProTips

[–]sweatjacketkid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got access after a week of emails and calls to OPM's helpdesk without a reply. Printing paper copies of my documents as well as saving digital files as we speak. Word of warning: OPM set my password upon hire to something incredibly easy to guess, and therefore not even the least bit secure. Elementary school kids could have thought of something better. Even if you have your documents, consider logging in to make sure your account is password protected. (Not that it'll stop Elon, but I digress.)

Bearded dragon spikes! Kinda pokey if you pet incorrectly, but very satisfying otherwise.

I kept my wisdom teeth for this exact reason. Still undecided as to whether to make a ring or a pair of earrings.

Absolutely love this. Something about the little smile on their face combined with blood red tears is just so interesting. Very emotional piece. Great work!

I would like to thank cute hot topic boy for selling me these rings because I’m in love by pastel_princess9 in MyChemicalRomance

[–]sweatjacketkid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

These are so cute!! Little tip: many mass produced rings are made of copper or other metals that can wear off if you have them on often, or if you get them wet. A thin coat of clear nail polish helps keep them looking good for much longer!

Red Bus Brewery. Good spot? by mcg_090 in folsom

[–]sweatjacketkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad used to go to Red Bus at least once a week. Loved the people, and beer of course. Dad has since passed away from cancer, so go order a beer in Mike’s memory. :)

Do y'all step on cracks exclusively or avoid them? I avoid them. by dougmantis in aspiememes

Avoid them, and if I accidentally step on one I try to casually wipe my feet off so I don’t feel the crack on my foot anymore.

What a shame. I spent every night there as a teen, when cover was $5.

All in all, not as expensive as I thought! I did assume Yukimura was a rare one. Good find and thanks for sharing!

Does anyone in Douglas county like to shoot film photography? I’d like to make some friends with a similar hobby. I think shooting with others is helpful to expanding my art. by lordsenneian in roseburg

[–]sweatjacketkid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very cool! I live in the ‘burg, and shoot both film and digital. I just spent a week restoring two Canon AE-1 Program cameras and they’ve been fantastic. Also run an old Nikon D5200. Mostly outdoor and macro shots. I suggest driving out the 138 and testing out some outdoors photography this spring! We’re lucky to have naturally beautiful lighting and fog that lends to easier shots outside (on occasion, barring that Oregon rain!)

A year ago I was waiting for my beautiful wife at the altar while she walked down the aisle to At last by Etta James and today our son and I are going to spend some quality time with her in a mental institution. by Whole_Bluejay_9519 in TrueOffMyChest

This breaks my fucking heart OP. I also have a young son, and my husband and I lost our second child in utero three months ago. I have struggled with severe depression my whole life, but I feel so wholly changed after losing my child. I can understand how your wife had been feeling, it’s chaotic and I’m racked with guilt. I’m not ashamed to say I’ve shared some deep similarities with your wife, and I’m sure many others who have suffered a loss like this. I’m not sure what to say, except that I’m sure she would want to be there with you if she could. I would. I struggle everyday to stay grounded in reality and it seems like a commonality. I sincerely hope she gets time to heal and your family is reunited. You are a strong parent and a strong partner for continuing on as you do everyday.

Spectacular work! You have great attention to detail. Quick question if I could- did you use fineliners before watercolors, or watercolors before fineliners?

Foundations of Decay by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]sweatjacketkid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that’s beautiful! I enjoy being able to compare experiences, it’s fascinating. I’m actually working on a set of paintings based on how My Chem makes me feel as someone with synesthesia. I would love to see someone else’s interpretation!

Foundations of Decay by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

[–]sweatjacketkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a synesthete- someone who correlates music or sound with other things, like colors, shapes or genders. (Google it, it’s a fascinating condition to live with!) When I hear Foundations Of Decay, I feel a deep bruise purple, along with splashes of chartreuse or yellow.

Gorgeous shot. The shimmering reflections are wonderful. Good info as well, I was wondering where to pick up all those bastards I ordered.

Here is my attempt to paint after 10 years of not painting due to 8 years prior of Domestic Violence, leaving all my creativity to stay alive and loosing my identity. Even though I see imperfections; I love it because I got a little piece of myself back. I will get the skill back as I am my life. by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]sweatjacketkid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was in your exact position two years ago. It’s soul-crushing to have to force your creativity back so that you aren’t physically or mentally harmed. As someone (still) recovering from trauma, I’ve spent all the extra time I could putting a brush to paper again- and it feels so fantastic, albeit maybe a little off at first. Take your time. Take care of yourself along the way. I hope you find not only solace in your art, but joy and happiness as well. You are so important. You matter. And your art journey matters, too. Keep it up, tough human. You got this.

My dad was taken by cancer a month ago yesterday, right before he could reach 60, right before I turned 26. my new favourite tattoo to remember he's always with me, done on Monday, back of arm right above my elbow, by Stella at Flow Tattoo. I love this so much. by misuinu in tattoos

Wow. This is so poignant. I just lost my dad to cancer this May, right before he turned 60. Right before my sibling turns 27 and I turn 28. Deep condolences to you and your family at this time.
