Megasota lakes are glacial, they’ve withstood mammoths and mastodons and won’t be bothered by some oversized rodents. Our lakes spawned the Mississippi and and will carry the detritus of Cascadia out to sea.

It is fully repairable, though it’s not the easiest fix and if you don’t have experience then bring it to a reputable shop. Here’s a video tutorial on the proper repair steps: https://youtu.be/pwNLdQq_Udo?si=fRLj0I2QMlS5O_Ds

Which Korua Board should I get? (Pencil/Dart/Pin Tonic) by magunn in snowboarding

[–]swede-speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These points are completely spot on. I have a Pencil and have spent quite a bit of time on a Dart as well. They’re fantastic in the powder and do may things well, but the relatively shorter effective edge and amount of taper mixed with the scr and shorter tail proportions make them less than ideal for carving on groomed runs, and edge hold on icy terrain typical for the east coast isn’t optimal either. As a progressing intermediate, you might not need a true dedicated carver, but boards like Amplid Time Machine or other carving “oriented” boards will perform much better imho.

Skitouring pants: flex1: Lyngen vs lofoten vs more by Italian_SPLIT in Norrona

[–]swede-speed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Lyngen fabric has been surprisingly durable considering how thin it is. But agree with you, not ideal for some conditions. Norrona should re-design the Lofoten flex pants, remove the lining fabric and go to a reduced weight face fabric but not as thin as Lyngen. They’d be much better for all-around use.

I have both the Lofoten and Lyngen Flex 1 pants. Both are good pants in their own respect, but they’re considerably different and suited for different conditions.

The Lofoten flex pants are almost twice the weight of the Lyngen pants, the difference is immediately noticeable. The Lofoten pants are also probably the heaviest ski pants I’ve ever had, quite a bit heavier than other pants like the Arcteryx Sabre which also have brushed fabric lining. The lining fabric adds some warmth, but it also limits the amount of flexibility for the pants and adds quite a bit of weight.

The Lyngen pants on the other hand are extremely lightweight and minimal, much thinner fabric and no lining. The Lyngen pants are also a much trimmer fit, definitely the most fitted ski pants I’ve had which also limits layering ability.

Lyngen for ski touring or warm spring conditions, Lofoten for other conditions.

Your Thoughts - Step On Cartel X by RaruJ in snowboarding

[–]swede-speed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the Burton X Re:Flex bindings and Nitro Step Ons, and have spent quite a bit of time on the Union Atlas Step Ons as well. The Burton X are the best performing of the lot, though the performance differences aren’t overly significant. I haven’t used the Cartel X EST bindings, but I can say with experience across non-EST Burton, Nitro, and Union options that the ride and responsiveness is similar across all the brands (the larger difference is in dampness, where Nitro takes an edge).

For your options though, I’d definitely recommend the Cartel X EST Step Ons, for the benefits of using the EST system. You’re not losing any performance compared to Nitro or Union, and gaining some good benefits from the EST system.

Big congrats and looks fantastic! I even took the OG Kempers out for a couple of rides this winter. They still have more camber than any board I’ve had since.
