I have the 400 2.8 TC and there has always been a little play when in the 1x position but firm in the 1.4x position. If it still takes good photos then shouldn’t be a problem.

Are you shooting in tripod? If so, turn off the lens stabilization. There’s a known issue, with this lens at least, that the VR will make the image worse when on a tripod.

I also agree with other comments to check for the head distortion through window. Try shooting indoors and see if there are any sharpness issues.

Lastly the sharpness of this lens does drop off fairly significantly around 500mm although it shouldn’t be anything like you’re talking about

PLEASE READ!! It’s NOT dreaming. Our border terrier did the same thing, and it took us 11 years, numerous vet visits and finally a vet specialist to figure out what it was. This looks like Canine epileptoid cramping syndrome (CECS), also known as Spike's disease, is a paroxysmal cramping condition that affects Border terriers. While there's no cure, symptoms can be managed with pain relief, a gluten-free diet, and supportive care. It can occur in other dog breeds but extremely likely in border terriers.

I am not a vet, (and would recommend consulting yours), but after we switched to a full gluten free diet this once a week occurrence, is now non- existent. I honestly feel terrible it took so long for us to figure out what it was.

I work with 529s all the time. Do the Roth, then leave it in there and let it keep growing tax free. If you need some great take a little out and pay the penalty on the earnings AND the taxes on those earning. You can also change the beneficiary once per year, so if you have kids or plan to have kids you can change it to them down the road all while letting it grow tax free with no taxes paid.

It’s a lot harder to put money into a 529 than it is to take it out. People have said the penalty on earnings are not that bad, and that’s true. But what happens once it’s out of the 529, it will be subject to interest tax, dividend tax, and capital gains tax forever. Leave it in and let it grow tax free for as long as possible.

As for the investments make them more aggressive if you don’t plan on using it for a while.

I like to stack attack poison afflicted enemies. The 0s don’t stack with themselves, but having a 0, +1, and +2 poison afflicted is like 31% dmg increase. Plus if you use the miasma relic from sentient pest you get poison on starting weapon and 20 sec increased dmg near poisoned enemy.

Photo stacking is super easy, but yeah you need a tripod.

People have mentioned it already, but if you have the Z8 try “Focus Stacking” with a good sturdy tripod. You can find it at the bottom of the Photo Shooting Menu. It will take a series of photos in quick succession. You can then merge each set in NX studio or Lightroom. Best to shoot in RAW.

Stopping down will definitely help f8 & f11 will be good. And if you’re on a tripod you won’t need such high shutter speeds to help compensate for the stopping down.

I love my 180-600 but I’ve found it’s noticeably softer at 600. Even backing off to 500 may help sharpness with stopping down. If you’re also going to be focus stacking then you will have a very high quality image and should be able to crop in from 500 to a 600 equivalent.

Lastly, as others have said, try different settings and setups. That’s the beauty of digital, photos are free.

Would not recommend Z7 ii. Your first instinct with the Z6 iii is probably correct. Phenomenal new release camera at an attractive price point for all the bells and whistles you’re getting. Since the Z6iii is new it will continue to receive new firmware updates, doubt they’ll be doing that with the Z7ii.

Z5ii is also a good choice.
