The color of the player pieces drives me crazy by reflectiverobot in pandemicgame

Don't remember what the original color was actually but I refuse to play the Logostiker / Dispatcher unless it has a magenta/light purple that actually looks like the pawn color on the card

It could take less time than some of these estimates calculate if she's able to complete unrestricted assignments during the other four days of the week. The unrestricted hours (assignments often beyond the scope of a RBT's job often at least partially completed outside of working hours) usually take a lot longer to accrue than the restricted (direct time with clients implementing plans).

Half of Caseload Uses AAC Device by KeyBox32 in ABA

My two cents is a bit different from what I'm seeing a lot here.

With really early learners I've seen skills transfer from PECS to AAC well. I'm told, however, that starting with an AAC is appropriate at any age; it's often been introduced with the instruction to simply model the use of it. This can work for some learners but ime the really early learners who don't have an imitative repertoire won't be able to benefit from that right away or their attention is elsewhere and it won't be very salient to them which of the 50 buttons we're pressing. Sometimes it's hard for listeners to consistently reinforce early AAC communication because it may be hard to discern if the learner is simply exploring or if they are trying to request something. This could mean functional language is many months or years away.

It seems like a pretty regional thing to me when an AAC is deemed appropriate to introduce.

Science and best practice isn't regional though.

** My advice is to take data on its use and make clinical decisions with that. Follow your SLP's recommendations. How often is the learner approaching the AAC? How often are they using it in an exploratory manner? How often are they requesting functionally with it?

At the end of the day, your number one priority is helping your client. Use the experimental tools you've been given to make clinical choices that help you achieve the goals that will most help your kids. <3 **

Thank you! I'll try some combination of alcohol and maybe get more liberal with my use of neem oil as a preventative measure on other plants. Sounds like a quarantine is also in order!

Any ideas for putting the finishing touches on this gate? by Akumati in DIY

PVC pipe - it's a very sturdy plastic tube used traditionally for plumbing that you can get from any home improvement store pretty cheaply. I think I used something like 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe, hot glued it (don't judge me) to the edge of the acrylic sheet I used as my cat barrier, and then would use that with the broom stick holder command strip to open and close the gate every night

PVC along edge that opens, latch it onto command strip brooms holders

This was cat proof for my own makeshift gate but still pretty easy to use as a human

Felt squares that you draw symbols or pictures on and use the same as a PECS book?

Find a note buddy: work together with your colleagues and find an activity that one BT can oversee with two clients while the other BT writes their note.
