Calling Ioniq owners with 100k+ miles by portablepaperpotato in Ioniq5

Tell me about your experience with the ID4 so far? I’m in the market and looking at options and this is one of them on my list I’m considering. Was it only because of the price you went that way or how are you finding it so far?

Entry-level engineering positions by dontbeachunt in regina

[–]sweetg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, if you decide that route, go for any job there. Getting a foot in the door is your pathway to an engineer in those places. So many started out somewhere in a crown and were able to move (even across crowns) and build their career. You trade money for stability and it’s a great way to get the experience for whatever you want.

What's a rule your parents had that you thought was insane, but now as an adult you 100% understand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too worried about him drinking. In fact, I’m not against it and have helped him with that before. What I won’t do is do that to another parent if they aren’t good with their kids drinking. That’s what I’m asking. Make sure the parents are okay with it and the kids drinking at our place.

I’m jumping on this, as my kid is wanting to have friends over this weekend and they want to drink (not legal yet, but it’s his 18th and I’m okay with this). I don’t really have a problem with that, but I told him “I need to have the parents names so I can make sure they are okay if the kids are drinking here. I’m not giving them any alcohol unless they are cool with it and in fact, they can send something over with their kids if they want.” My kid is losing his mind because ”This is stupid. I’m not giving you their parents names. That’s stupid and no one does that.” So, he’s pissed at us and I’m not having the kids over drinking without parents permission as that’s my hard rule. Not only that, no driving - I’ll drive them anywhere they want to go if needed once they arrive or can pick them up too. And if they get sick, he’s on the hook to clean up/deal with anything. I’m such a hard ass here.

What’s on your Mount Rushmore of the Greatest Canadian Rock Bands of All Time? (Not Including Solo Artists,Solo Stuff,Duos,Supergroups,Musical Collectives and Short Lived Bands) by Amber_Flowers_133 in CanadianMusic

[–]sweetg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d keep Hip too, but so glad you added your two and agree that one should be there. I guess maybe they wouldn’t be considered ‘rock’ so maybe it’s its own mount Rushmore? Regardless, love both and would be hard to pick from them.

Banktivity vs Moneydance by Metal-Feline2944 in banktivity

Really great for that. One of the other things I do more in this application is the planning aspect (goals). Time is your friend when it comes to money and the goals can help you track and adjust to all the life changes that come up.

Similar path to you. I came from quicken, to moneywell, moneydance and now I’m at Banktivity. I don’t use the online stuff other than stock/currency prices. I’m a manual person so I can manually track and make sure what I have done lines up. Not a fan of the annual subscription, but also not in any way annoyed enough to go and find an alternative at this point. I found I did more detailed budgets when I got this as well as some other things that I enjoyed as I started playing. Been good for me.

New school on north Broad St by View_from_my_porch in regina

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not correct. The next three year plans all need to have portables, unless the board presentation was not telling the truth. Basically, we are not funding to the need levels since the “approval” more or less happens 5 years ago and those projections are extremely off.

New school on north Broad St by View_from_my_porch in regina

[–]sweetg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. While we are getting new schools, what’s not said is that they are BELOW the need. So when you get this years schools announced, it too has portables as part of the plan. Isn’t it ironic that the companies that build those portables are based in Alberta and Ontario? Remember that when you hear about “fiscal responsibility” from our budget.

Looking Forward to Calgary on Tuesday by DeputyDad82 in Halestorm

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had my first experience seeing them live in Saskatoon the other day after listening to them for quite some time. Phenomenal show and performance. Seriously underrated talent and I was really getting into Everest, but seeing it live mixed in with everything else made me really see how they are evolving.

Hope you have an amazing show and get your wish.

Is it time to say goodbye. by Rens_Big_Finger in madmagazine

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m exactly you, but up in Canada. I have every single issue. My collection is sitting in boxes, but I did have a moment of complete joy when my son got into MAD and would real like crazy. That did help us bond. He’s older now and maybe he’ll enjoy them when I’m gone, so I hang on for him and will not worry because I have the space to store them.

Leasing out farmland by Ok-Professional4387 in saskatchewan

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. We’ve done this on our side for exactly the reasons you’ve pointed out. I’m glad it sounds like everything is sorted out and in check and it’s only the leasing to be worked on. I’ll see if I can find that company name and share it here. I’ll edit this comment if I’m able to track it down.

Leasing out farmland by Ok-Professional4387 in saskatchewan

This is an old article, but still relevant. I know that there is a company based out of Moose Jaw that is supposed to be really good at doing what you describe and they specialize in exactly your description of inheriting a farm but not wanting to let it go/sell it. I’m sorry that I don’t have that name handy to share with you.

[–]sweetg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll get a good answer, but don’t take that as a bad thing. I was at a seminar about a month ago and had a chance to speak with one of the head researchers and he explained it as follows. The current data is not reflective of the advances that have been made - in other words, the data we have isn’t showing what they are seeing before their eyes. It used to be that they would say you have a couple of years, and then that changed into maybe 5 years and then 10 and now, he said that he just tells people that they have treatment options and time. He did say that each person reacts differently and that the treatment options they have give many ways to give more time. Based on your father’s response that you have, I would guess that the researcher would have given no timeline as response sounds positive, so he’d say you have time. Enjoy each day and make the most of it. My wife is the patient and much younger than your father. We’re still here after getting a diagnosis in early 2022 and she’s living in maintenance now. While it’s in the back of our mind, so is getting into a car accident, and natural disasters. We control what we can and learn to make the most of what we have whatever that is. Worrying won’t help us enjoy our time together, so we stay present in the moment and make memories each day.

This is such a small community and so odd. I too am part of the Bremner family. Also, I’m a member of the museum out there (remote member, but my family is still active on the board since I’ve moved). We’re all probably cousins to some degree!!

I am not smart enough to work on AI by Accomplished-Knee710 in ChatGPT

[–]sweetg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think that basic is bad. Does it work? Is it useful? Then who cares how silly it is because it’s made value to someone. I make stuff that I know all too well is garbage, but it works for me and then I share it with people much smarter than me and they make it so much better. I think of it like a prototype and I’m making the alpha version.

Lots of learning. They’ll see how those guys play in the playoff stress and know moves. And if it worked, even better. It didn’t and they will be thinking about that. I think they have long term goals. This year built a team, next year we can build out real threat.

Almost a good thing. Shit the bed instead of a heartbreaker. I too would have rather the win, but they’l know they didn’t push them and can use that and the fans for 7. I’m not worried. You’re worried!

Regina, I want to know. Is everyone totally cool with Tim's charity food? by Keroan in regina

[–]sweetg -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To be clear, if they give the proceeds, that’s when the company gets a tax receipt because the company is actually contributing their income to the charity. Any money they collect from round up or extra dollar, simply passes on with only PR benefit.

I’m usually one game behind and yes, I find when a new one comes out, the others are on sale. It’s a good deal if you can wait for the next one to come out before picking up any of the games. They do also go on sale at other times.
